Re: Happy Death Day (10/13/17, D: Landon) S: Jessica Rothe

Good movie. A real fun watch. I thought a couple things were going to happen that didn't, with regards to the Father who keeps calling, the deceased Mother with the same birthday, with the serial killer and the premise of the film itself. I thought it was going to lead to something bigger. Even though it didn't I still enjoyed it. I guess because I had no real expectations. I didn't see the reveal coming either.

3.5/5

I want to see this, but does that stupid 50 Cent song play throughout the movie, or is it just in the marketing ads?

Just the ads. They must have skimped on the budget. I was surprised when it wasn't the wakeup song (like I've Got You Babe in Groundhog Day).

Ok thanks. That was a real deal-breaker for me!

Jason Blumhouse sets a pretty strict budget max of $5M for his movies. I remember reading that the director of The Boy Next Door had to fight really hard to get him to spend a few extra thousand to film the climatic scene the way he wanted.

Loved it! And can't believe we still have people refusing to see horror that isn't R rated.

Just got back from the theater (I was the only one in this particular matinee). Tons of fun and I'd recommend checking it out.

Had a good time watching it. Jessica is adorable. Just enough kills and blood to keep it PG13. As much as I like gore, not sure this movie woulda been better as a full R-rating.

The ones I thought might be the killer were not, so good for them. Glad I didn't guess the killer.

Well... I wasn’t planning on seeing this in the theatre, but you have all convinced me. Since I just got MoviePass I will use it on this.

Re: Happy Death Day (10/13/17, D: Landon) S: Jessica Rothe

I finally saw a matinee yesterday and this was a hell of a lot of fun.

Good mix of dark humor and light horror. Don't be discouraged by the PG-13 rating thinking that this needs to be some kind of hardcore gore fest. Because it doesn't need to be that at all. Everything works so well. I actually laughed out loud several times.

There were several teenage girls in my audience. They actually yelled out...."Oh shit, no way" at the fakeouts.

Re: Happy Death Day (10/13/17, D: Landon) S: Jessica Rothe

Saw this today due to all the recommendations and positive reviews.

Thought it was decent and cute. Not remotely scary. My 13 year old son loved it.

Some pretty humorous scenes and lines. The bitchy sorority sister stole the movie in her few scenes I thought.

Quick question...
Spoiler:
when they got hit by the bus, what was the notebook or whatever that started the fight?

Hope this goes to digital sooner rather than later. Not paying to see this in theater, but at home, it’s ok

I saw this yesterday at a matinee showing. A friend had really enjoyed it and recommended it. It was pretty good for a PG-13 movie.

Spoiler:
I thought it was because Trees found the unflattering birthday card in the other girl's notebook which she had seen previously in her room the night the killer attacked her. So, she knew the other girl had planted that card in her room that night and might have something to do with the killer.

This wasn't bad. Yes it was done better in Groundhogs Day and Edge of Tomorrow but I still enjoyed it. It's a fun time waster and good for a matinee. 3/5.

This thread reads almost exactly like The Final Girls thread.

I enjoyed this one for sure.

Watched it tonight and thought it was great. Jessica and Ruby are hot.

Good to see that they gave Mother Mother a nice little shout out -- they're cool little indie band from Canada that I like.

Re: Happy Death Day (10/13/17, D: Landon) S: Jessica Rothe

Saw this at a drive-in last night.

Fun, breezy way to kill 90 minutes but the concept didn't get taken far enough and the ending was lame. I actually called who the killer was early on and despite a wealth of red herrings I was right.

I watched this for the first time on Blu-ray and I enjoyed it. It's a fun movie and the lead actress Jessica Rothe is great in it. I hope this will lead to her having a good career. 3.5/5

Re: Happy Death Day (10/13/17, D: Landon) S: Jessica Rothe

I echo what most others have written. An enjoyable, frothy horror-comedy bonbon with some scares and some laughs. While nothing spectacular, it's one of the better horror flicks of last year's largely-overrated crop. Rothe is sexy and funny. "Hey, man, did you hit that fine vagine?"

Re: Happy Death Day (10/13/17, D: Landon) S: Jessica Rothe

I know I’m late to the party but I finally saw this tonight. While I definitely didn’t find it scary it was very enjoyable. Rothe was great in this. I also thought the soundtrack was very reminiscent of Friday the 13th.

Even though the trailer I saw for the sequel gave away the killer prior to me seeing this, I thought the candle used to light the fuel was a dead giveaway as to who the killer was.
