But without someone steering the big picture of the DCEU, what would this mean? Is the JL movie going to screw the characters and their individual movies into explaining shit that happened or will they all be somewhat stand alone?

Most of the non-Captain America Marvel movies have been fairly standalone, so I assume something like that.

Little tid-bit from THR:

And if all goes as planned, Warners and DC will announce a release date for a Wonder Woman sequel at Comic-Con late this week, with Jenkins once again directing.

Only thing is, Jenkins hasn't officially been announced to be directing. She is writing the script so presumably she'll direct, but perhaps her agent and Warner are still working out the details.

I'd be surprised if Star Wars Episode 9 doesn't end up in Dec. 2019, and I don't know why Disney keeps trying to put them in May following the success of 7 and Rogue One.

I'm guessing they will probably go into production by next summer or Fall.
Read that Jenkins is currently in negotiations to direct. Hope WB doesn't lowball her. She deserves a huge raise considering what the first movie accomplished this summer.

Should be fine if SW stays out of December. Good news is that gives us another DC film for June 2020 (previously thought to be WW2). I was hoping Batman might be able to make 2019, but the odds are probably against it.

Patty Jenkins in final negotiations to direct. No deal yet though.
She's expected to get a substantial raise.

why is the new Star Wars film being released in the summer? i'm not saying it's not going to be huge (and others have been released in summer), but why not stick with tradition of the new trilogy?

Han Solo: 5/25/18
Episode 9: 5/24/19
Are you asking why Episode 9 isn't being released in December of 2019 to compete against Wonder Woman 2?

It's 21 days in between. These movies that open in the summer make the majority of their money in the first two weeks and with nothing coming out the following two weekends after Avengers, it'll do just fine. It seems like Disney is trying to stake out that Memorial Weekend slot.

I doubt the Avengers movie is going anywhere. Seems Disney/Marvel have those dates pegged now for their major releases. I would not be surprised if they moved Star Wars back to a December release to give post more time.

IDK, December already has Aquaman and, though not much in terms of competition, Bumblebee. IMO, they have time to get it done.

It's official...
Patty Jenkins Closes Deal to Direct ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel (EXCLUSIVE)
Justin Kroll Film Reporter @krolljvar
SEPTEMBER 11, 2017 | 11:22AM PT
Patty Jenkins has closed a deal to direct the sequel to the summer hit “Wonder Woman.”
Gal Gadot has already signed on to return in the title role. The film is slated for release on Dec. 13, 2019.
Variety was first to report that Jenkins was already working on a script for the sequel with Geoff Johns, who oversees the DC film universe along with Jon Berg for Warner Bros. “The goal is to make another great ‘Wonder Woman’ film,” Johns said at the time.
“Wonder Woman” has been a megahit for the studio, grossing $409 million at the domestic box office and $813 million worldwide. The film is the fourth installment in the studio’s DC Extended Universe, which launched with 2013’s “Man of Steel” with an opening weekend of $116.6 million, followed by last year’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” with $166 million, and “Suicide Squad” with $133.6 million. “Wonder Woman” — made on a $150 million budget — is critically acclaimed, with a 92% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Besides the “Wonder Woman” sequel, Jenkins is also developing a TNT TV series with her “Wonder Woman” star Chris Pine, inspired by the autobiography of Fauna Hodel. She is repped by CAA.
