The Glass Castle – In theaters August 11. Starring Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, Naomi Watts, Max Greenfield, Sarah Snook, and Robin Bartlett. Based on the best-selling memoir by Jeannette Walls.

Chronicling the adventures of an eccentric, resilient and tight-knit family, THE GLASS CASTLE is a remarkable story of unconditional love. Oscar® winner Brie Larson brings Jeannette Walls’s best-selling memoir to life as a young woman who, influenced by the joyfully wild nature of her deeply dysfunctional father (Woody Harrelson), found the fiery determination to carve out a successful life on her own terms.

Lionsgate presents, a Gil Netter/Lionsgate production. Screenplay by Destin Daniel Cretton & Andrew Lanham. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.

Been seeing quite a few TV spots for this and I'm not sure if there's been a movie I didn't want to see so much. The whole thing screams Oscar-bait.

If you told me 30 years ago that Woody Harrelson would be the sole cast member from Cheers who would end up with a fantastic film career, I would have laughed. Laugh's on me.

I'll see if for the fact that it is from the director of Short Term 12, which was fantastic. Brie working with him again and Naomi being in this are just added bonuses.

It does look like Oscar bait, but I'd imagine it would be released in October through December if they really thought they had something great here.

I'll still see it because I like the people involved.

Hmm...reviews have not been kind. 47% currently on RT: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_glass_castle_2017

I guess I will skip seeing this in the theatre.

I think when they made it they felt it had Oscar potential. Once it was completed, they (the studio) realized it was not.

It'll be a crying shame if this isn't Woody Harrelson's Oscar. I really liked it. The mixed reviews are unwarranted I think. Very good and very sad film.

Just saw this and thought it was an interesting and emotional character study. Wife is a big fan of the book and said the movie missed the point , like it made you think about homelessness in a different way,

3/5 stars

Finally got around to seeing this one. Some great performances by all involved, but it was rather dull.

I've found that it makes the movie MUCH more tolerable if you take a shot of some sort of liquor every time that Woody H. says "mountain goat."
