I will be interested to everyone's reaction to Jennifer Carpenter's scenes. As Zahler said in the interview dex posted:
I beg to differ. I like character details, but only if it serves the overall story. Her stuff, IMHO, didn't.

I think I'll be paying up the $6 to rent this on Friday. The trailer looks good.

Vudu only has it for rent. I want to blind buy this. Zahler can do no wrong, IMO.
EDIT - iTunes has it for sale as a pre-order (no actual release date) and rental. Amazon PRIME also has it just for rent. I have $2 of Amazon video credit, so I guess I'm renting it from them.

I had a $5 Fandango credit so I rented the UHD version from them. I'll try and get to this on Saturday.

Rented this from Vudu last night. It actually cost $7. I'm going to try to see it either later today and sometime this weekend. It's a really long movie, so I need to devote some time to this.
Considering this is a brand spanking new release and is also having a limited theatrical run, I don't mind paying the $7.

Yeah, "Still in Theater" releases usually come in around $6.99, Never Grow Old and King of Thieves are following the same platform release.
I like the option, $6.99 for a 4K UHD release at home vs $7 for a movie ticket is a no brainer.

Just finished watching this and it looks like Zahler is 3 for 3. This is Top-10 of the year material right here, with a revelatory performance by Tory Kittles.
EDIT - The film is definitely a modern day western - you'll notice right away with the way folks talk.

Overall, good movie. It definitely could've been a tighter edit. I'm not saying full scenes, but just some trimming.

Nice movie, I enjoyed it, but it really seemed like they could have cut an hour off the film and lost nothing.

S. Craig Zahler delivers yet another gritty film with that throwback 70's feel in which the lines between the good guys and the bad guys become blurred.

This was great!! Didn't feel long at all to me. Can't wait for the blu to watch it again. One small minor thing I am confused about is
I didn't mind the Jennifer Carpenter scene at all. It is necessary to for what comes later. Her first day back after 3 months back and...that and she didn't want to be there that day.

Well now I feel like a fool. I must have looked away for a second or two; may have been when I was reaching or taking a drink of my beer. Ugh... I am shocked I didn't notice.

It's playing in a theater here and I was thinking of going to see it, but the length is prohibitive and if it's gonna be available for rental on Amazon, that's the better option for me. I can hit pause when I want and not miss anything. I saw the earlier film, BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99, on Amazon and that worked just fine for me.

Which is why I was like.. all that build up for her character with the whole baby thing.. just for THAT?! Wouldn't it have been easier if she was just preggos at the bank? It would still have been shocking without the exposition.
