Domino (2019, D: De Palma) S: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Carice van Houten, Guy Pearce

Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster Waldau and Mad Men star Christina Hendricks are in talks to star in veteran director Brian De Palma's thriller Domino.

Petter Skavlan (Kon-Tiki, Sophie's World) wrote the script for the film. The story follows a Copenhagen police officer (Coster Waldau) who is seeking justice for his partner's murder by a mysterious man called Imran. He teams up with a fellow cop and his late partner's mistress (Hendricks) to hunt Imran down, but they are unwittingly caught in a cat-and-mouse chase with a duplicitous CIA agent that will take them from Scandinavia to the sun-drenched landscapes of Spain.

The film is being produced by Michel Schonnemann for Schonne Film in Denmark and co-produced by Antonio Perez Perez for Maestranza in Spain and Jaqueline de Gooeij for Zilvermeer in Belgium. Backup is wrapping financing of the film, and IM Global will introduce the project to buyers in Cannes later this month. ICM, which negotiated the financing and packaged the film, will represent it for North America.

Coster Waldau is known for playing Jaime Lannister on HBOís hit show Game of Thrones. His film credits include fantasy film Gods of Egypt, horror hit Mama, sci-fi pic Oblivion and comedy The Other Woman. He is repped by WME and Lindberg Management in Denmark.

Along with playing Joan on the hit AMC series Mad Men, Hendricks has appeared on the big screen in mystery-thriller Dark Places, Nicolas Winding Refnís The Neon Demon and comedy Fist Fight. Her upcoming credits include The Burning Woman with Sienna Miller and Aaron Paul and Gilles Paquet-Brennerís Crooked House. Hendricks is repped by ICM, Independent Talent Group and LINK Entertainment.

De Palma is known for directing such iconic films as 1983's Scarface, 1987's The Untouchables and 1996ís Mission: Impossible. He most recently helmed the 2012 film Passion starring Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace. De Palma is repped by ICM.

DePalma movies are like Ridley Scott movies nowadays. You can count on the form and style to look great, but the actual content might not be up to par.

Interesting choice of De Palma credits to highlight. All remakes. Have publicists forgotten PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, CARRIE, THE FURY, DRESSED TO KILL, and BLOW OUT?

You really think the titles you listed sells better then the other ones?

No, they're just the ones I'd prefer to remember him by. They established De Palma's reputation far more than the remakes listed in the PR above.

It has to be about the marketing and what movie(s) of his made the most money. It's all about $$$$$$.

They're his 3 most famous movies. I would estimate 10% of the people who have seen Untouchables/Scarface/Mission Impossible know who Brian De Palma is, and even less have seen Phantom of the Paradise, Dressed to Kill and Blow Out.

Better than using his past few films...De Palma is known for directing such films as Passion, Redacted & the Black Dahlia"

I find him to be one of the most overrated directors. And in the past 20 years, there has been only 1 film I enjoyed that he has directed, Femme Fatale.

True. I'm still thinking of the De Palma who imprinted himself on my moviegoing consciousness in the '70s.

Yeah, I've never really understood the love for De Palma. Compare his output with the most logical correlate, Claude Chabrol, and De Palma's career pales in comparison.

In a world wracked by terror and suspicion, Copenhagen police officer, Christian (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), seeks justice for his partner's murder by an ISIS member named Imran. On the hunt for the killer, Christian and a fellow cop are unwittingly caught in a cat and mouse chase with a duplicitous CIA agent (Guy Pearce) who is using Imran as a pawn to trap other ISIS members. Soon Christian is racing against the clock -- not only seeking revenge, but to save his own life.

Yep, looks like a complete misfire. The fact that it says "From the director of Mission:Impossible" is an indicator, and poor Nikolas. He's got some good acting ability, but this is the worst vehicle for him.

The studio chopped the film up by an hour to just 89 minutes. The studio that funded the picture did not let De Palma cut it his way, obviously.
