I've actually been wanting something like this for a long while. I LOVED movie posters when they were made with style. This new era of movie posters that are cheaply slapped together in PS in 10 minutes is just boring and lazy. So many look the same and use the same template.

Exactly. I'm not sure where they got the "...resurrection" part of the description. The first two words they used pretty much nail it.

The trailer made it seem like the resurrection is fans demand for the old school type poster and places like Mondo commissioning it.

That's where I'm torn about this doc. I'd love to see a documentary on the old artistic posters of the 60s-80s but I'm not sure how interested I am in the new wave of Mondo type posters. I'm only a fan of a handful of the Mondo posters I've seen and would rather they stick to "official" posters.

Is it a reprint? Seems too small.

I remember an episode of "American Pickers" where they went to some guys barn who had hundreds if not thousands, of old original movie posters.
I can appreciate what companies like MONDO are doing, but I do prefer the old style of poster making and not just trying to be niche.

Sounds like a great idea for a doc.

Mondo is a different beast. I've seen some cool stuff, but all their stuff is artsy for the sake of being different. There's not a marketing campaign riding on a Mondo poster for a movie no one has ever heard of. An official poster has to be creative AND serve as marketing material to drive interest in a film.

The sweet spot is teaser posters. They fit both needs but tend not to sway too far into the marketing (i.e. big heads, same color schemes, etc.) traps final posters do.

Ha. Same thing I was thinking. "27x41" would've been far more appropriate.

I'm chuckling that due to the standard 16X9 screen size, the documentary will be unable to show any of the posters full size unless they're shrunken to fit centre screen worse than a vertical video.
