Has WOM been mixed? I know critics were a little less enthusiastic about it, but everything I'd heard from early viewings was tremendously positive.

One of the scenes sort of does (at least the comic book version) if you know what they're teasing, but if you don't, the scene won't really mean much to you.
The other 4 scenes are jokes and/or fan service.

I don't care if I read spoilers but I have a question - if my 9yo daughter saw the first one (she has older brothers and tries to copy/hang with them) - are there any really intense scary scenes? Nothing phased her in the first one, but I can only imagine they amped everything up overall in the 2nd.
I'm asking cause I don't want to deal with tears because they might have dragged on a torture or gruesome fight scene too long. And because she knows that myself and her brothers will be seeing it tomorrow and she's gonna pitch a fit if she can't tag along.
Thanks for any input in advance!

Nothing really super bloody but there is a scene where numerous people die in a manner which might be slightly scary to kid. If she saw previous one, I wouldn't have issue taking her to this.

I saw it last night, and I'm taking my 8 year old daughter on Sunday. I think she'll be ok.

This one has a very high bodycount (Especially when it comes to The Ravagers. Who get killed in nearly every way imaginiable) EGO takes some physical forms that might frighten her....And I'm not talking about Hoff-form.

I saw this last night and enjoyed the hell out of it. It got a little cartoony but damn, the music choices fit so well and much better than the first film.
Rocket having the last shot was a beautiful way to show how much his character changed. Even the dynamic between Gamora and Nebula evolved nicely. My only beef was the shoddy de-aging for Kurt and the weird 2017 Hasselhoff when Peter remembered the 1987 version. But the cameo was still welcome.

Just got back from seeing its and it was a blast. Shit, the de-aging effects on Kurt Russell are phenomenal. That technology keeps getting better and better.
They really amped up the emotional depth especially at the end. Michael Rooker is the man.

Marvel still can't figure out how to make a decent sequel, apparently (Winter Soldier being the exception). I thought this one lacked almost all of what made the first one fresh -- the humor and charm felt really forced here. Very pretty to look at if nothing else.
Nebula had a few cool moments, Mantis was a dud, and Yondu was fucking badass. I've never thought Rooker was anything special, but he was great here.

I don't know, I think there was way too many uses of "shit". Funny how that kind of stuff jumps out at you when you have a five-year old and a two-year old.

I though it was better than the original. But just barely.
The young Kurt Russel was pretty close to perfect. He was a little chubby, though. Maybe people were expecting him to look exactly like Escape from New York Kurt rather than a young version of his character in Guardians.
I was a little confused by one thing. It starts in 1980. Then cuts to 34 years later. I thought all MCU films (with one or two obvious exceptions) take place in present day. Is vol. 2 set in 2014?
Biggest laugh for me: "Mantis! Look out!"

My wife and I both commented that the de-aging looked fantastic. I know it's been a trend in several of the Marvel movies but it really opens up some interesting possibilities for all movies going forward.

In the Infinity Gauntlet comics, that character was oddly sidelined, watching most of the action from space with Silver Surfer. He did have a much larger role in the two Infinitly shitty sequels.
