Really, Quill ending up in the kind of peril where his friends save him instead of the other way around is the only way to go, at this point.
He wasn't in enough peril when his dad tried to use him as a battery? His friends didn't already save him during that story? I would dig Gamora directly saving his life, yes, even them out. But let's not pretend Quill hasn't seen his fair share of peril.

Getting back to Groot and what age he'll be, I do think the Old Man Groot twist could really work. After so many of his friends cared for him when he was a child, now he takes care of his friends as his children.

And I do wonder if the other Reaver group made up of various Guardians from the comic books will factor into this somehow, too.

Someone suggested it in the thread when Gunn was first fired. It is an interesting choice, but I don't think he'd want to do it. I also don't know if him and Zoe are on good terms.

Has the rest of the cast really interacted with Bradley Cooper much? He only does the voice over during post-production; on-set Rocket is played by Sean Gunn.

Taika Waititi pretty much nailed the tone of the last two GOTG films in Thor: Ragnarok, and is a known entity at Marvel, so he could step in as director if he wants.

These shocking, disgusting, appalling pictures ...

Better cover your eyes and hide your children.

It is being spun as a “pedo party” when it was a theme party about the NBC hit show “To Catch a Predator”. Poor taste? Probably. Pedophile? Yeah, burn the mother fucker!

I think Taika has been ruled out.

How old is Groot in the comics?

I wasn’t trying to imply that I felt that way (though I do think the idea of that party is weird no matter how you look at it), but more just that the pictures in question along with the tweets could be enough ammo to give the right news outlets to blow this story up into something bigger than it is and could be a problem for not just this film but Disney and Marvel Studios.

Having a TV network profit off a TV show called To Catch A Predator is weird as well.

I won’t argue that it wasn’t a “To Catch a Predator” themed party (I get that’s what it was intended to be) and won’t go so far as to say it was a “Pedo Party” (I don’t think it was) but it’s obvious the To Catch a Predator theme idea spun into something beyond the TV show for this party. How many priests, creepy clowns, furries, etc. ever appeared on that show? Like I said, it’s not necessarily a “Pedo Party” but it’s also beyond a “To Catch a Predator” themed Party.

I can't find anything official, just speculation going both ways. One thinking why it might not be Taika is that he's currently filming another movie, so it might be a scheduling conflict. However, any replacement director is likely going to result in some rescheduling.

Wow, I'm surprised that they'd miss one of their scheduled, carefully-curated release dates. It looks like they will in this case though.

If they HAVE to move on from Gunn, I like the idea of hiring Taika Waititi - he shares a similar sensibility.

They never announced a release date for this (though obviously was 5/1/20). The film has never actually been officially announced yet either.

They could just shift the releases slightly or swap and have it come later in 2020.

I’m very curious if they will have another big event announcing the slate.

So we basically have Cernovich to thank for taking away the next GotG movie from us, and fucking up Marvel's schedule. Asshole!

If they don't go back to Gunn I'd like to see Boots Riley get it if he's interested in bigger budget films. Sorry to Bother You had similar tones to Super in places and Marvel likes to go with indie/smaller directors unless the director ( s ) is already involved in the MCU.

I saw video footage on reddit of Cernovich forcing Gunn to publish those tweets. Asshole and kidnapper!

And yet it won't make any bit of a difference. Can't see Disney, who has already doubled down, suddenly decide to reverse course.

And in case I hadn't already said this, all sides in this saga are a bunch of d-bags. Cernovich (who I had never heard of before this), Gunn and Disney.

Reports are out that Disney has told everyone working on pre-production to get other jobs. Sounds like they may push this back.
