This looks like a blast. I've been tired of Jackson lately but paired with Reynolds and them yelling each other sounds fun to me.

They're getting dangerously close to silly parody with that poster. Whitney's song in the trailer was more than enough to pound the joke home.

Which one's the hitman and which one's the bodyguard?
Or does it even matter?

I also got the email for the AMC free screening. But I'm working the night shift next week, so I can't go.
Wouldn't have minded seeing this for free.

I went to the free screening last night.
Overall, the film isn't bad. I think general audiences will really like it. It'll probably make a decent chunk of change next week. The action was really top notch. Some really well done sequences. More violent than typical stuff these days.
My biggest issue with the film really is it could've been so much better than final product. The script is pretty decent... a very 90s like action structure... Shane Black-ish to a degree. You could tell it was someones first (or seemingly first) script trying to emulate Black. But they really try to be over the top with the comedy, though not as much as the trailers are trying to sell it. Jackson and Reynolds are playing... Jacskon and Reynolds (Reynolds more subdued). So that gets annoying. I think the movie would've been better if it played it straight a little more and cast actors who weren't just doing their normal shtick.
The should've played up the hitman v. bodyguard ethics a little more. There was one scene where they discuss how they view themselves, who is really the bad guy, etc. I thought that was pretty interesting and could've been fleshed out more.
I really don't know why Gary Oldman was in the movie... he was barely in it. Easy pay day I guess.
Hayek was funny to me just because she was so over the top and aggressive in her profanity, and I've never seen her like that before.
I didn't know Elodie Yung was in this. She has a somewhat sizeable part. Man, she is sexy. Would like to see her start getting bigger parts.

Saw it last night, enjoyed it a lot, funny, lots of action, good summer flick. My only complaint, was that there seemed to be a haze, like a soft filter, used through out the whole movie. Unless my theater had a very dirty projection lens.

I had been wondering what Patrick Hughes, director of Expendables 3 had been up to, and realized he directed this, so that answered my question.

I like both actors so I will probably check this out. Seems like a decent way to spend a couple hours.
