Fast X - Fast & Furious 10 (2023, D: Leterrier)

Confirmed by Diesel tonight off his Instagram

http://deadline.com/2016/02/fast-fur...ed-1201695535/

Well racing fans, the talk over the last year or so hasn’t just been idle chit chat, and Universal’s second most successful franchise will indeed be 10-films long. As is customary for the series, the news comes courtesy of star Vin Diesel’s Instagram account, where tonight he revealed the release dates for the next three Fast & Furious films. As previously announced, Fast 8 drops April 14, 2017. Fast & Furious 9 will follow it on April 19,2019, with Fast & Furious 10 coming April 2, 2021.

Diesel long said that Fast 8 was intended to form the first installment of a trilogy that will bring the series to a conclusion after 10 films. That plan, he says, is in part meant to honor the memory of Paul Walker. That’s very touching, but of course the biggest factor in the decision isn’t sentiment, but money. Luckily for Diesel, the last installment, 2015’s Furious 7, was a huge hit for Universal that went on to earn $1.516 billion worldwide. Even so, the studio has until now declined to make it official official, though they’ve largely been treated as more or less inevitable.

Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray is directing the next installment of the series, Fast 8, with the full cast including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham expected to return. Neil Moritz is producing with Diesel.

Really hard to believe this series will have gone 10 films and 20 years.

Here's the thread for Fast and Furious 8, which is being worked on now and will be filmed this Spring.

re: Fast & Furious 10: Part 1 & Part 2 (D: Lin)

In an interview from the latest issue of Total Film, the star of the Fast Saga discussed the future of the franchise, as well as what he has planned for Fast & Furious 10. Diesel said he “started planning for Fast 10 before we started filming Fast 9.” Also, while discussing the Fast universe growing and having spinoffs, he said: “And for the fans, should Fast 10 parts one and two be the conclusion, it would be nice for this world to continue for generations to come.”

It will always amaze me that a street racing flick, with a script plagiarized from Point Break, that nobody really liked that much, that spawned 3 sequels that nobody really liked that much, would grow into this.

I thought part 4 was a pretty good way to get it back on track. Then 5 sent it into orbit...so to speak.

Only this franchise would have Part 10: Part 1 and Part 10: Part 2

Didn't realise it had so many sequels. I mean I know there are a bunch of movies for it but 10 films?

10 hasn’t been made yet. 9 comes out in a few months.

Pretty sure they announced this before 9 because they mentioned it being a final 'trilogy' story arc within the series.

I mean, really. How much longer can this go on with this cast? I know it's still making money. But it's time. 5 & 6 were truly the only good ones IMO.

I'm sure some of the cast can find their way into the spin off Hobbs and Shaw as cameos. They could also relaunch Tokyo Drift style with new actors. But it's time they put the original series to bed.

Does F&F really need a 2 pt, 4 hr+ finale? Come on.

Considering the billions the movies make, why not?

I do think it is a bit reckless to develop a two-parter
1. before the next film even comes out
2. given the current landscape of theatrical

Of course the franchise isn't in any dire situation like how Divergent scrapped their extra movie or how Fantastic Beast may not do 5 films.

I hope and assume they will plan accordingly and actually shoot it back to back.

FasTen your seatbelts — the end of the road is approaching.

Two months after the long-delayed launch of F9, Universal Pictures has set a release date for the 10th — and penultimate — installment of The Fast Saga. The Justin Lin-directed vehicle will arrive April 7, 2023.

Star Vin Diesel previously revealed to EW that filming would commence in January 2022, with there seeming to be a possibility of Fast 10 and 11 being filmed back-to-back to wrap up the billion-dollar series.

"Just wait for 10," Diesel teased on EW's BINGE: The Fast Saga. "Let's just say, the fact that you guys know that the studio is saying we can't cover all this ground that needs to be covered in just one movie, you can only imagine what is to come."

It's expected that the usual suspects, like Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, and Sung Kang, will return, but two of the biggest Fast stars have been either noncommittal or committed to being done. New addition John Cena told EW ahead of F9 that he wasn't allowing himself to think about the future of his character, Jakob Toretto, while Fast favorite Dwayne Johnson is officially out due to his beef with Diesel. Johnson recently declared, "I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me."

But Johnson's Hobbs & Shaw partner Jason Statham isn't following suit, having already appeared in the F9 mid-credits scene, which setup a showdown between his Deckard Shaw and Kang's Han. When asked on BINGE's F9 spoiler extravaganza what audiences should take from that stinger, Kang had a simple yet intriguing tease: "I think there's just one word — Gisele," referencing Gal Gadot's allegedly deceased character. "All roads lead to Gisele."

"I feel like it's making a big promise," Lin added. "It's so funny because I'd called [Statham] and he came and did the tag for 6, and we had talked about all this stuff. Then I called him one day and said, 'Hey Jason, I'm not going to do 7.' He's like, 'What?!' And so then I called him and I say, 'Hey Jason, I'm going to have you do the tag for 9.' And he's like, "But we get to work together after this!'"

They should just do one more to make it an even ten films. Stopping at eleven feels kinda weird.

After going absolutely insane with part 10, part 11 should end with them pinching DVD players and saving up for fancy fuel injectors.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this franchise ventured into time travel in order to make that happen . . .
