Australian movie. I dug it but I remember when I saw it, something felt different about it. Realized years later after I got the DVD that the entire movie has no soundtrack to it, and no music in the movie at all. But it’s a good thriller.

There is a new troll in our midst, can anyone figure out who it is?

Liza The Fox-Fairy. It was great--weird, weird catchy songs, goofy death scenes, but it never played (at least around here) except at our film festival.

The Landlord by Hal Ashby. He did a lot of great movies, and this is one of his best...If you liked Shampoo or The Last Detail, this is well worth a viewing...It came out on some MOD disc several years back...Great mixture of comedy and drama...

What Price Honesty- extremely dark easy to follow and brilliant all the way through. Starts slow and builds rapidly the whole movie. Don’t want to give anything away but the final scene will steal your breath and honestly you may choke a bit on this one it’s a rough movie. One of the Shaw Brothers best. Timeless and will be a great movie forever. Not sure if I’d consider this a martial arts movie. Lots of sword action and above average choreography but the sword and martial arts ability are not talked about. There’s no special skills or secret weapons. You don’t remember any characters because of the way they fight. There’s no martial arts tournament thrown in. Nothing to let you know yes this is a martial arts movie. The sword is used to attack and defend and some people have more ability than others. Is it because they trained harder or had a better teacher? Don’t know, doesn’t matter. Getting off track here because I love talking all about this movie but it’s Pai Paio’s best role and luckily he can handle himself in a deadly fight because he’s a madman in this movie taking police corruption head on and not backing down an inch from his first day on the job until the end of the movie.

WYRM (2019).
It may never get a proper release, despite being a hit at a handful of festivals. I hope I'm wrong. It's easily one of the best 'high school' movies of the last decade.

It was made-for-TV, but Kino (I think) released it on Blu-ray a few years ago. I thought the title sounded cool, so I watched it and fell in love.

Intimidad (2008) - directed by Ashley Sabin and David Redmon
One of my five favorite documentaries ever. I caught it when it was making the festival rounds in 2008 or so, and I spent a delightful evening with its directors the following year when they were hitting the festival circuit again with their film Invisible Girlfriend.
It's streaming on Kanopy.
