Fantasia was a failure upon its initial release. It was a big money-loser for Disney in 1940. It was only upon its multiple rereleases over the decades that it gained a following and became quite profitable for the Mouse.

Flirting - by John Duigan. Especially since it was supposed to be part 2 of a Danny Embling trilogy, along with The Year My Voice Broke.

Layer Cake and Rock N Rolla.

Layer cake has the novel sequel (Viva La Madness) and Jason Statham owns/owned the rights to it but could not get a studio behind the proposed episodic version. He was to take over the Daniel Craig character from LC. Also, Guy Ritchie had already written the sequel to Rock N Rolla years ago, but once he started with the first Sherlock film he never went back to the gangster sub-genre.

Re: Movies you wish had a sequel?

Those John Hughes high school films from the 80s would be great to see sequels after some 35 years now with the original casts. It would be easy to see how the nerd from Breakfast Club is a successful tech entrepreneur, Ally Sheedy's character blossoming, beautiful and successful, while the others leading ordinary lives pining about the good old days of high school.

Serenity

*The 2005 Joss Whedon film, not the 2019 movie.

Or it would be depressing to see how old they look and better off not making them.

I like to think that Election is the sequel to Ferris Bueller''s Day Off, and that Big Little Lies is a sequel to Election.

The Birdcage. The French original had several sequels and I love the cast so much in their roles that even if the sequel was just half as funny or heartfelt it'd be worth it.

Maybe a reboot with a new cast but then it would not be a sequel but I would not have mind another Affleck Daredevil movie.

I loved that scene where they were all standing on the rooftop like that.

I would've liked to see a sequel to Sneakers. I suppose they still could, though no River Phoenix, of course, and I believe he died within a year of the original's release.

He stated if we wanted one, to comment to the Paramount CEO on Twitter to ask for more. I’m fairly certain Crowe would have easily signed for more, but I guess since it performed so-so, that ended that.

Although judging by the trouble they had making the hand drawn sequences in Mary Poppins Return it seems like the art of hand drawn animation is truly dead on a corporate level. That should make everyone really sad. Unfortunately I don't think anyone cares at this point.

I couldn't come up with a single movie I think I'd want a sequel to, but Fantasia would absolutely be it. Of course now they'd have to incorporate CG and it just wouldn't be as magical as hand drawn.

Just watche the Directors Cut of that last night. Don't understand why so many seemed to dislike it. Very good Marvel movie.

With the massive success of the 1997 film, I'm surprised they never made a sequel focusing on Titanic's sister ship the Britannic which also had a tragic ending to it.
