Re: John Wick: Chapter 2 (Stahelski, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Finally saw this and have to say it was just okay. The first had an atmosphere of intrigue about Wick and the world. This one expands it into a pure comic book shoot em up. It's also just too much. The first focused on mostly short action sequences with brutal, violent finales. This one is just non-stop and most of it isn't handled as well or as interestingly.

It has more in common with a Jason Statham movie than anything. Still, mostly entertaining, just forgetable.

I loved it ! expanded on the assassin world

Great action again , love the in close gunplay

Sets up a third film and surely can't costs as much as other blockbusters with much less visual effects

Oddly, I'd still watch a sequel. The stuff that works, anything about the continental, works well. The actual main plotline is just incredibly blah.

I thought this was spectacular and just as good as the first. My favorite scene was when Ruby Rose, who could not lift a 20 lb. backpack, is dispatched of by John Wick fairly quickly, which should make at least one poster happy.

I'll be buying the bluray tomorrow. It gives me hope real action movies can still be made.

Well I mean, it isn't as good as the first one, so he isn't entirely wrong.

I don't think anyone expects a sequel to exceed the original. It's very rare.

Even worse than the first one? What you mean the first one that was an excellent action movie? Whatever...

I enjoyed the hell out of it, and i am all in for a third movie.

I liked this movie, the action was cool, but for emotional investment, it can't touch the first one.

I highly enjoy both John Wicks, but I can see how somehow could dislike them. Isn't that the case with about all movies?

I thought the first one wasn't great and the sequel was terrible. The super choreographed action scenes got tiring after a while and almost felt like a dance routine.
Add to that the wooden acting, silly plot (hobo hitmen ), and trying to be cool annoying subtitles.

I like my action with some substance, give me some Johnnie To and I'm a happy camper.

Re: John Wick: Chapter 2 (Stahelski, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Bought both blu's on Tuesday and watched them back to back last night...I don't recommend that and will explain.

My dumb ass put the DVD in for John Wick and I kept thinking that it was odd that the sound wasn't all that great and only had a 5.1 track. I didn't even notice the picture quality as it was superb for a DVD.

The Dolby Atmos on Chapter 2 is reference quality unfuckingbelieveable!!!! I am curious if my neighbors heard; it scared the out of my girlfriend who was upstairs and came running down.

Love the first one and really liked Chapter 2. But watching them back to back was probably not the best as I was worn out and kind of numb. The first one give you such a high and then the second just continues that and for someone like me I should have taken a couple days breather between them. I think it may have dampened my enjoyment of the second a little. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it but too much of a good thing at one time is not good for you. Like overeating or drinking

I will watch it again in about a week or so probably during the afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday so I can really give my system a workout. It was about 9:00 when I started it last night and turned it down several times not to disturb anyone.

Loved the ending and can't wait for Chapter 3.

Re: John Wick: Chapter 2 (Stahelski, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I think most of us if we didn't care for the first one, we wouldn't even try the second the second assuming it would be worse than the first.

Inri has either a very open mind or is a glutton for punishment.

I actually liked them both for the dumb fun they were. But yes, by the end of the second, it was like going continually downhill on a rollercoaster with no uphill to catch your breath. I got a GC for my birthday from work so I'm heading over to BB this afternoon to pick up a copy for this weekend.

I was in a frame of mind where I just wanted to be entertained by something and not have to think too hard, instead I was bored.
