As a Mexican, I have no issue with the "white" superheroes that I grew up watching. I would've preferred a better story centered around Connor.

If I want to see a movie with more Mexican representation or diversity, I'll wait for Sicario 3 or even John Wick 4.

I'm Mexican but I don't mind the representation in Dark Fate. So far, from what I've seen, the young female that is the centerpiece is being protected by Sarah Connor. She's also being hunted down by an advanced robot that has an outer skin that looks like a Latino dude. All in a 200 million dollar film, which rocks. It's like Rosa Salazar being the lead in Alita, granted, that one had a Mexican at the helm, as well.

It's a damn shame that Alita pretty much flew under the radar for such an amazing film.

Some early social media feedback from early press screenings compiled by Collider.

Perri Nemiroff, who hosts Collider movie talk, really enjoyed it.

I've wondered about the T-800 line of Terminator because Arnold said in T2 that he was a Model 101. So does the Model 101 of the T-800 line all look like Arnold? And, if so, are there other model numbers within the T-800 line with each model number looking like a different person?

That's good news.

FWIW, I have a desire to see this franchise sequel (unlike the SW thing).
IMO, there hasn't been a decent Terminator film since T3.

Apparently Alamo Drafthouse was supposed to do a free fan screening of T2 this past weekend and were only supposed to show 20 minutes of footage from Dark Fate. You would only pay $5 for beverage and snacks.

https://drafthouse.com/show/t2-fan-s...k-fate-footage

But, that was a cover for an actual screening of Dark Fate, so that's where all these social media reactions came from.

I think so. In the original Terminator, we see a "flash forward" of Reese in the future, and a different T-800 model, played by actor and Arnold's bodybuilding pal Franco Columbu, infiltrates and attacks the base.

I assume that all the T-800’s look like Arnold. In Terminator: Salvation which is the only Terminator film Arnold isn’t in (other than likeness) a T-800 comes off the line with his likeness that attacks John.

In the first Terminator film, he was mostly called 101, and the model number T-800 was introduced in Terminator 2, but they are actually the same, and without one the other wouldn’t be possible: T-800 is the endoskeleton and 101 is the skin and therefore the physical appearance of the model. In the commentary of Terminator 2, Cameron explained that all model 101 units look like Schwarzenegger, while the 102 is another skin. In fact, the future scene showing a Terminator infiltrating a resistance bunker depicts a 102 model, which is in the likeness of Italian bodybuilder Franco Columbu.

The deleted scene in Terminator 3 shows you that they made the mold out of a military service member, that was played by Arnold, with a dubbed voice.

I have the BD for T3 and I guess I never bothered looking at the deleted scenes. That's hilarious.

I can see why it was deleted. They couldn't come up with a better alt voice?

T3 was the last film Arnold did before becoming Governor of California, so he went all out. He was in the film, deleted scenes, and paid a few million to have that scene of him on that crane destroy buildings on the street. The majority of that scene was all practical, with a bit of CGI flourishes.

Is there really no 3D version of this in theaters? I thought James Cameron was the king of 3D.

I’m still wondering why we haven’t gotten a 3D Blu-ray release for T2...

I'm so confused as to what happened to this thread? Were the last few pages just deleted?

NVM I didn't see that there were two Terminator Dark Fate threads. But then why was this showing on the first page if the last post was from 2019?

No. This is not the reviews thread. This thread was all the discussion before the release.

Re: Terminator: Dark Fate (2019, D: Miller) Schwarzenegger, Hamilton -- Cameron producing

‘I refused:’ James Cameron says his Arnold Schwarzenegger demand was ‘problem’ with Terminator 6 (msn.com)

Cutting to the chase:The filmmaker said he thinks he knows why the film didn’t work, and it came down to a demand he made about Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“I think the problem, and I’m going to wear this one, is that I refused to do it without Arnold,” Cameron admitted to Deadline. “Tim didn’t want Arnold, but I said, ‘Look, I don’t want that. Arnold and I have been friends for 40 years, and I could hear it, and it would go like this: ‘Jim, I can’t believe you’re making a Terminator movie without me.’”

He continued: “It just didn’t mean that much to me to do it, but I said, ‘If you guys could see your way clear to bringing Arnold back and then, you know, I’d be happy to be involved.’

Adding fuel to the fire, Cameron believes, is that Miller then wanted Linda Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor.

“I think what happened is I think the movie could have survived having Linda in it. I think it could have survived having Arnold in it. But when you put Linda and Arnold in it and then, you know, she’s 60-something, he’s 70-something, all of a sudden it wasn’t your Terminator movie. It wasn’t even your dad’s Terminator movie – it was your granddad’s Terminator movie,” he said, adding: “And we didn’t see that.”

Cameron said: “We loved it, we thought it was cool, you know, that we were making this sort of direct sequel to a movie that came out in 1991. So, it was just our own myopia. We kind of got a little high on our own supply, and I think that’s the lesson there.”
