Full view:

For comparison, Gene Wilder's Wonka:

The colors seem darker and muted, and the clothes worn and frayed. It's like Charles Dickens's Willy Wonka

Not bad looking just based off of that image. I’m curious about this film.

I’m okay with that. The original is too so it kind of makes sense.

Is this meant to be a prequel to the Gene Wilder version or the Johnny Depp version? Or is it a third iteration of the character?

Timothee Chalamet’s turn as chocolatier Willy Wonka is pushed back several months to Dec. 15, 2023.

So in short, every movie is delayed for the next year.

Ok. Not really sure the world needs another Wonka story but it looks nice. I do appreciate that no one is trying to do an accent.

I definitely got a "Fantastic Beasts" vibe which is not in the plus column.

Looks cute enough. High Grant as an Oompla Loompa made me chuckle.

Ugh. Why does everything have to have an origin?

Looked quite groany. Gonna pass.

has anyone gone to see a movie purely because of a "from the producer of..." tagline? LOL. Always make me laugh when I see that. Who gives a fuck.

also, this looks harmless and forgettable.

When the trailer says "From the Director of Paddington" and "From the Producer of Harry Potter," it's not trying to name-drop the producer and/or director, it's name-dropping the movies they're associated with. It's saying to the audience "Hey, did you like Paddington and/or Harry Potter? Then you'll like this."

He’s referring specifically to the PRODUCER tagline, not if it’s a Director one.

When I see, “From Director Guillermo De Toro” naturally my interest will be piqued and I will be interested. When I see, “From Producer Guillermo Del Toro” then I don’t really give a shit. HE DIDN’T DIRECT IT.

Producers often influence the director, and bring much of their own crew. It is of reason to mention it.

I can't wait for the next film, "Oompa"... the origin story of the Oompa Loompas.

This does nothing for me, but even if I had an interest - Chalamet doesn't come across whimsical enough.

Looks interesting enough to watch, but probably not in a theater for me.

I’m hoping Chalamet ends up being more whimsical in the actual movie, unless he chose to embrace Wonka’s psychopath side instead.

I was hoping this would be more colorful as well. The drab colors aren’t exactly drawing me in.

I listed both.

Maybe you don't, but not everyone makes that distinction. Studios put producer names on things if they think it'll help it sell. It's why "Steven Spielberg Presents" was on Gremlins, Poltergeist, and Batteries Not Included, among others.

And in this case, the producer wasn't even named. It was just to tie the film to Harry Potter, to make that association in people's minds. Now maybe you're too clever to fall for it, but it works, otherwise they wouldn't have been doing it for decades.

There's a part of me that is sad this doesn't become public domain until 2060. Imagine a horror origin story for Wonka.

This looks too upbeat. The Wonka I grew up with was a dick with a buried heart of gold, though I guess it's harder to sell Chad Wonka.

Ehh. This looks like "Willy Wonka in the Harry Potter-verse". Could be decent, but the trailer leaves a lot to be desired.

Here’s what I don’t get : If you really wanted to go back to that particular IP, there’s a sequel, written by Roald Dahl that’s never been adapted into a film, just sitting there. Why not make that story instead of this one? Must be a weird rights issue.
