My Jungle Book review:
Saw this on Netflix last night. Everyone seems to have an opinion about CGI Tarkin lately, but holy shit Mowgli looks like he was born and raised in Uncanny Valley. From the first shot of the movie he looks about as photorealistic as Gumby. There was not one single moment where the film was any better than its cartoon prototype. The whole thing looked phony. It didn't look like they were outdoors. There are real jungles on planet earth right? Couldn't they have filmed plates in an actual jungle?

When you have a franchise that's a huge hit with the public, expect it to be milked until the end.
I bet you in the future they will remake Avatar.

I quite liked Jungle Book so maybe this will be ok. Looks like a shot for shot recreation in CGI. I am one who thinks Lion King is overrated though.

I wasn't joking. I am truly saddened that is happening. Lady and the Tramp is a perfect film. So sad.

Loved the original and been enjoying it now with the kid. However, if Elton John’s quotes online are true that only 4 songs from the original will be in the remake (with Be Prepared left out)....ugh.
Understand they may not want to include the hyena nazi march but still disappointed as it’s my favorite, despite how old I may be getting. Lol.

Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Utilizing pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way, Disney’s “The Lion King” roars into theaters on July 19, 2019.

Still looks pretty but totally derivative and unnecessary. And seeing the characters mouths moving, they barely move. It almost looks there like we are hearing their thoughts rather than seeing them talk. Doesn't look like Babe who was clearly speaking his lines.

Since the movie was a favorite of mine growing up its cool to see the live action version but still feels really unnecessary. I'll say there's a greater chance I'll see it in theaters over Aladdin.

Like Beauty & The Beast it looks like a shot-by-shot remake for the most part.
I'm sure I'll watch it eventually but not necessarily excited
also still miss Jeremy Irons

Despite the fact that I’m not terribly interested in seeing a (what I assume is mostly) shot for shot remake of the story, I have to admit that the CG looks incredible!

To his credit that was an admitted experiment. This is looking at the cartoon as a storyboard and recreating it using another animation medium (and even using all the same music), and not doing it as an experiment, but doing it to make a billion dollars.
Watching this makes you complicit.

This is a shot for shot remake of animAted right? I’m so conflicted as animated is masterpiece. Not sure i need to see live action when I love original so much. Even saw Broadway show 3x which was incredible experience...
