It actually looks really good but between the teaser for this and Aladdin, it looks like they’ve just settled for shot-for-shot live action remakes.

What is the point of this? They are just swapping one style of animation with another. They didn’t even need to hire new actors.

The animation looks great, but I'm a bit puzzled that Disney is releasing this and Aladdin in the same summer. TLK and Aladdin are two of the biggest 90s animated films. I don't know why they didn't space out their release dates more.

Plus Dumbo, Frozen 2, 3 from Marvel, Toy Story 4, and Star Wars. Going to be another huge year for them.

It will make HUGE numbers. Trailer/movie looks so damn cute.

I've never seen Lion King animated. Never cared for it. All my friends tell me I'm crazy blah blah

I'm not big on Walt Disney characters.

So you never saw Lion King or you didn't care for Lion King?

I only seen the first 10 minutes. But I don't think that should really qualify as me seeing the movie. I consider seeing a movie from beginning to end.

I dont really think this needed to be made, like others have said its not a live action remake like, Beauty and the beast, The Jungle Book. its just all digital so its animated. If they keep doing this kids are going to lose interest in the original animated films and i think that would be a bad thing as their missing out on some amazing movies because the graphics arnt "real enough"

Looks great to me. Baby Simba is adorable, and the CGI looks fantastic. I don't dislike the live action movies that others on here seem to, having enjoyed Jungle Book, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast

Unless they do a number of changes to incorporate musical sequences from the live-action stage play.

Only thing stranger than people saying this looks good are people saying they liked the Jungle Book “live action” atrocity. That movie looked like it was filmed indoors.

Here's a finished Jungle Book scene

Uhhhh, that doesn’t look real.

Again, forget that I’m not convinced that’s a real tiger. I’m not even convinced that’s the outdoors.

Why even bother with these threads other than to bitch and whine?

I guess some hope that American audiences and filmmakers can get back on track.

My son showed me the comment of the day after the trailer aired during the football games yesterday:

"That was the best performance by the Lions on Thanksgiving Day in a long time."

It got stellar critic and user reviews, so i'm not sure what's strange about it.

They are completely unrealistic. Everyone know the animals in The Jungle Book speak Hindi. Those animals were speaking English. English!

Re: Disney's The Lion King (2019, D: Jon Favreau)

My Jungle Book review:

Saw this on Netflix last night. Everyone seems to have an opinion about CGI Tarkin lately, but holy shit Mowgli looks like he was born and raised in Uncanny Valley. From the first shot of the movie he looks about as photorealistic as Gumby. There was not one single moment where the film was any better than its cartoon prototype. The whole thing looked phony. It didn't look like they were outdoors. There are real jungles on planet earth right? Couldn't they have filmed plates in an actual jungle?

Also Baloo was rediculously big. He's supposed to be a sloth bear, which are not very big. They made him bigger than a grizzly. Fucker was huge!

What’s funny is that some of the Hindi words that the characters use are mangled beyond recognition with the pronunciation.

Not sure if you're joking here, or if you don't know they are doing a "live" action version of Lady and the Tramp.

Re: Disney's The Lion King (2019, D: Jon Favreau)

That looks pretty good, as did the Shere Khan clip from The Jungle Book.

I agree with MrRound2 that these might make kids not even want to bother with the originals. But Disney has to keep the machine going, and they've been pretty successful with these live-action/CGI remakes.
I didn't like the live-action Beauty and the Beast though, but it made $$$, so can't argue with that.

Did James Earl Jones even have to record his lines for the new movie?
