Here's hoping for a better story and acting in this one. So disappointed in the first film.

looks great. I loved the first one. I'm in.

As long as a horror film is steeped in creepiness, I can forgive just about anything. I'm easy to please in that regard.

Th first one was like taking a crap in your pants and having to wait until you get home to do something about it. No bueno!

That actually happened to me when I went to see "Annabelle."

Evil has its beginnings. #AnnabelleCreation - in theaters August 11, 2017

Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.

David F. Sandberg (“Lights Out”) directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman, who also wrote “Annabelle.” Produced by Peter Safran and James Wan, the film stars Stephanie Sigman (“Spectre”), Talitha Bateman (“The 5th Wave”), Lulu Wilson (upcoming “Ouija 2,” “Deliver Us from Evil”), Philippa Anne Coulthard (“After the Dark”), Grace Fulton (“Badland”), Lou Lou Safran (“The Choice”), Samara Lee (“Foxcatcher,” “The Last Witch Hunter”), Tayler Buck in her feature film debut, with Anthony LaPaglia (TV’s “Without a Trace”) and Miranda Otto (Showtime’s “Homeland,” “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy).

Oh shit. It's the Conjurverse. Is the Insidiverse part of that? So we have the DCU, the MCU, the Oceansverse and the Conjuverse. Untitled Universal horrorverse. Which ones am I missing?

I enjoy the world building. I remember losing my shit over Tarantino using Red Apple cigs in two movies. Now everything is connected.

You're missing the Legendary/WB Giant Monsterverse.

Well, the first Annabelle was a spin-off from The Conjuring so...

I hated the first movie but I have ever so slight hope being directed by Sandberg who did Lights Out which was a pleasantly surprising horror movie from last year.

Oh right, Godzilla and King Kong.

So many universes (universai?) it's hard to keep up.

Still waiting on the Nintendoverse. Culminating in an Avengers-style Captain N movie.

Apparently there was an early screening for this and reviews are starting to come out. They are pretty positive.

Collider (for what it's worth) really liked it:

Between this and Lights Out, director David F. Sandberg is clearly one to watch. With Annabelle: Creation he manages to successfully do his own thing while still respecting a past installment – and considering how I felt about the past installment, that’s extremely impressive. Annabelle: Creation also proves that these Conjuring spin-off movies have potential. After the release of the first Annabelle, I began to think these movies needed Ed and Lorraine Warren. But it turns out, strong characters are the key, and ones like Janice and Linda have absolutely no trouble supporting a Conjuring franchise movie.

Grade: B+

Not when they cost $10M to make and gross $125M.

I liked The Conjuring and the sequel. The first Annabelle was entertaining. The trailer for the sequel is creepy. I will go see (and go "all out" by purchasing overpriced popcorn and soda). :)

Nice to see Annabelle bounce back from the abuse Marlon Wayans laid on her.

i saw an advance screening. Surprised how good it was and how much I enjoyed it. No, it is not reinventing the genre, just a good spook-fest. A lot of people (including myself) clapped at the end because we had such a great time.

Essentially just a string of jump scares, but they were so many and they were so effective that I had a blast. Also had a great sense of humor... the girls were terrific... I gave it a 7/10, though I might bump that up to an 8 when I see it again..

Definitely worth seeing with a large crowd. The gasps, laughter and clapping really adds to the enjoyment. Doubt it will have the same effect watching it alone on a TV.

That's a good point. A certain audience can really enhance watching a movie with a lot of jump scares.

I vividly remember seeing Scream on opening night with a packed crowd of mostly young adults. The movie never played quite the same on home video.
