Trailers: TRAIN TO BUSAN is a harrowing zombie horror-thriller that follows a group of terrified passengers fighting their way through a countrywide viral outbreak while trapped on a suspicion-filled, blood-drenched bullet train ride to Busan, a southern resort city that has managed to hold off the zombie hordes… or so everyone hopes. Anyone heard of this movie? Wow, the trailer looks awesome. It's playing in very limited release in the U.S. http://www.wellgousa.com/theatrical/train-to-busan The Well Go USA site lists all the theaters playing it. It's apparently playing in Irvine here in So. Cal, which is about a 30 minute drive from my house. I think I may have to check this out on my day off. |

I'm seeing it today. Heard good things from lots of people about it.

Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
I was in NYC this past week for work, and saw a late showing in the Village. And . . .
It was incredible! Most fun I have had at a movie in a very long time. Basically, it's like "Speed", but on a train with 28 Day's Later-style zombies. The crowd was constantly jumping and laughing. Really well-done movie. |
Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
Interesting! I'd love to see the movie. I've been to Busan (back when it was called Pusan) and I'd be curious how much of the city is shown.

Well, you know the saying, "It's not the destination, it's the journey"? That's apt for this film as well. :)

Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
Well... guess Korean Zombies look a lot better than Japanese Zombies.
I like how South Korean cinema isn't so afraid to do intense shit for their mainstream. I wish our balls weren't cut off. |
Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
Going to catch a matinee in about 1 hour. It's also playing in Fullerton, which is about 20 minutes from me.
Read this movie is a big hit in Asia. |
Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
It started out kind of slow (not necessarily a bad thing), and some of the CGI could have been better, but I thought the movie was pretty great!

Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
 Just got out of the theater. Loved it. Scary, crazy intense, emotional and the characters had depth. The child actor who played the daughter was amazing. I teared up at some of the emotional scenes with her. Very well done movie. Very good mix of drama, action and horror.

Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
This movie pissed me off. Why did the writer have to create tension by making the characters stupid? I can't count how many times people in this movie were staring like dumbasses at the danger they were in only to react at the last second to fight or escape. I hate that. The worst moment was at the end, when

^^^ While I understand that viewpoint to some degree, I can't really call the actions of the characters truly stupid.
We can nit pick and criticize them for not acting smartly during a plague/zombie apocalypse, but these people are in shock and panic/freezing would set in. They don't have the step by step, play by play bible on how to appropriately act during this time of crisis. Freezing during chaos I think would happen naturally to lots of people. I've had a few instances where I needed to make a decision in an instant and my brain would just freeze due to the level of stress. Spoiler:
and the man you're referencing as the train attendant: Spoiler:

I really liked this movie and recommend any zombie fan to seek it out. It did bother me that even though the big guy bothered to wrap his forearms, he then just went around punching infected in the teeth with his bare hands. Good pace, good set pieces. Glad I got to see this in the theater. |

I really liked this movie and recommend any zombie fan to seek it out. It's made a bit more palatable by having zombies as the structure that drives the story, but it's not a horror movie. I really recommend it, just go into it expecting a family soap opera with zombies because that's what you're going to get. |
Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
Intense movie. Felt shorter than it's almost 2 hour running time even with the slow start.

Re: Train to Busan (2016) -- Korean Zombie Thriller -- Limited U.S. release
A friend of mine's daughter moved to Korea to teach English. He's out there now visiting and posted on Facebook that they're on a train to Busan. I hope they make it there okay -eek-

Well Go put this in a handful of theaters again November 4th Weekend.
Might have to try and see it tomorrow as it's playing about 30-40 miles away. http://wellgousa.com/theatrical/train-to-busan Last night I saw Yeon Sang-ho's Animated Prequel to this film, 'Seoul Station' at a Film Festival in San Francisco. |

At the end, I was hoping Spoiler:
That would have made for a heck of an ending. |

Finally watched this on Netflix and thought it was a lot fun, although it's severely overrated. It's good to great but ZOMG type great? Eh, I'm not seeing it. I do have access to Peninsula and will watch that sometime soon.
