Around 30% of you claimed in my Rotten Tomatoes thread that you never use that site or give a shit about critics reviews.

Yeah it only matters for DC comics movies. and this movie especially.

i don't see anyone voting 'no' in that poll contradicting themselves now here in this thread.

IO9? That's as bad as a friend of mine that gets his movie reviews from IGN.

But, you tell us. You got second thoughts now?

Forget the number of stars and read the actual review. It says verbatim "one of the worst movies of the year"

He actually never uses the word Worst in his review, though the opening statement includes "let us count just some of the ways “Suicide Squad” is one of the most disappointing movies of the year"

After the mess that was BvS, no way was I pre-ordering tickets for this.

My better judgement has appeared to pay off...

It was the first review I read. Now I've read a dozen more, including Variety and Hollywood Reporter, and this definitely does not sound like the fun bad guy movie the trailers have been promising.

I may see it on Friday morning, and I usually have my own review up a few hours later.

Re: Suicide Squad (Ayer, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Me after seeing the first trailer back in January:
What evidence do any of you have that this will be remotely good? The trailer looks like total shit. It looks like nothing but trite wink-wink sex jokes and tough guy posing. It definitely appears to contain a ton of poorly integrated action scenes; stuff filmed by the second unit and jizzed on by the viz effects team, that will be utterly boring. Like Transformers.

Is there some other trailer or review that indicates this might be a good movie?
Told you guys it would suck.

Re: Suicide Squad (Ayer, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

From the known story, excellent trailers, and lukewarm feelings about Batman Vs Superman , I can't accept reviews for Suicide Squad. It's something I need to see. I'm still anticipating it. Nothing is going to stop me from seeing it.

Everyone was trashing Batman Vs Superman, when I thought it was a bit of a letdown, but a solid movie. If I rate the Marvel Cinematic Universe 5 stars, Batman Vs Superman gets 4 stars. Not to mention that Marvel had a rocky start with the very unenjoyable Incredible Hulk.

Now at 35% on RT. At least for the time being, it's higher than BvS.

Seeing tomorrow night...looking forward to it.

Loved BvS and MoS...different from Marvel, and that should no difference at all.

Critics mean nothing...complain if you have no humor, complain if you have humor.

If you like these kind of movies go see it, if not then do not go see it.

The reviews are worse then I expected, I was kind of thinking it would be more in the 50 range. I'm pretty busy this month anyway and wouldn't be able to see it for a few weeks, but now I may just pass altogether and wait for a rental.

Disappointing, i'm curious what this will do for the box office, particularly the 2nd week drop.

This is just pure speculation on my part, but with a running time of 100 minutes, anyone else think this smells like a studio-tinkered edit?

Of course, an R-rated director's cut for home video was probably a given, regardless. I just wonder how much "logic" was left on the cutting room floor. The Ultimate Edition of Batman v. Superman may not have made that movie BETTER but it did make parts of it more COHERENT.

I blame Rotten Tomatoes for this...they have it listed as 100 minutes.

It also doesn't help that despite getting some backstory it sounds like most of the characters who aren't Harley or Deadshot take a backseat and that The Joker is basically a cameo that feels forced in from what it sounds like.
That's not at all what the reviews I've read have said. They praise the character intros but then say it settles down and gets boring and stupid. Also the villains are apparently weak.

Doesn't sound like a problem with the characters but with the script and execution. So...basically it's another DC movie.
