Didn't realize he was so old. He had a good run.
I always cry when they finally let her shop.

Odd timing, I was just browsing through Vudu and saw Mother's Day (out today) listed with a big "From the director of Pretty Woman" on the front, and then I started thinking about how old he had to be.

Deadline just posted a write up. No cause of death listed yet. It will probably be the usual "Natural causes"
Yeah he had a great run on TV and Film. Leaves a great legacy behind him.

The article above now mentions complications of pneumonia following a stroke. His age/passing had me wondering how old his sister Penny is. Checked and she's 72.

I loved him in A League Of Their Own. He was a really talented guy. I grew up watching Happy Days, so I'll always have an appreciation for him.

One of the few directors I enjoyed seeing as an actor, like Sidney Pollack. Equally talented on both sides. RIP.

Just looking at his credits, he really made his name as a TV writer/producer.
He didn't transition to becoming a feature film director until he was 50 when he did The Flamingo Kid. I've seen most of his work as a director and he did a lot of Rom Coms and I'm aware that most of them got crappy reviews.
He only directed 1 episode of Happy Days back in 1974.

Marshall was a great director of popular American films, in both comedy and drama genres.

I'll remember him for The Odd Couple, one of my favorite shows ever, and try to forget him for almost everything else.

I never could sit through a full episode Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy, or The Odd Couple. I haven't seen Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries, or Runaway Bride.
So Marshall was this titan in the entertainment industry and I've never seen any his stuff.

Even though he was old it is kind of shocking he died since Mothers Day only came out a couple of months ago.
Similar to Mike Nichols, Jack Lemmon, and Robert Altman where it seemed like they were doing ok and busy with projects and movies and unexpectedly they die.
I guess we will not see a Arbor Day movie as one poster mentioned in a thread

He was still working while he was sick, but it was a very real possibility that he wouldn't be able to finish his last film (A Prairie Home Companion) that for insurance purposes Paul Thomas Anderson was brought on as a standby director.

RIP. His breezy movies have a way of making me feel good. Nobody else quite hits that note like he did.
Oddly, last time I thought about him was just two days ago - watching Lady Dynamite on Netflix (it's not a cameo, they just pretend it's him).
