So here's the funny thing ... I despise social media and I have no clue what a Patton Oswalt is ... (Guessing it may be a Game of Thrones thing) ...

I figure a little self-promotion won't hurt anyone: I interviewed Feig for DVDTalk, and you can check it out here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/features/dvd_talk_interv_1.html

Even though his movies haven't all been winners, Paul Feig is a genius. Read his books and you'll agree.

And just a freaking week left so we can talk about the actual movie.

I second this. I haven't read his kids books but Kick Me and Superstud are both absolutely hilarious. He's such a funny, likeable guy. Imagine the most crawl-in-a-hole-and-die humiliation of your life and multiply it by, realistically speaking, 2-5x. Feig has two books full of those stories.
I think he'd have more but a lot of it ended up in Freaks & Geeks instead of Kick Me. The Sam Weir character is a direct Feig analog right down to the last name being an easy target for bullies: Weir/Queer and Feig/***.

Have you seen Heavyweights? He was the skinny camp counselor.
Edit: Looking at more acting credits, I just found out he was Mr. Pool in Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Obviously one can't ever look a gift horse in the mouth in terms of articulate answers but that first answer he gives might be the longest answer I've ever gotten from an interview subject, and I went in knowing I had to watch the clock on this one!
In general, Blu-ray supplements, including long cuts, are all locked in up front (how many times have you heard a commentary where the participants say they're recording the week before the movie opens?). In the case of Ghostbusters, there might even be visual effects shots that need to be completed for it (and thus need lead time). It might also be easier to flow from the editing of the final theatrical cut into the extended cut. With a director like Feig, who is watching test scores closely, that will keep his opinion about what jokes that JUST missed the final edit ought to be put back in.

He was a comedian and actor first. He was a regular in It's Garry Shandling's Show and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Freaks & Geeks was his big segue into writing/producing which led to directing.

Cool. Still don't see the genius in the stuff I've seen of his. But I love a good comedic book. Still not sure he steered his movie in the right direction. So far, all indications (trailers, commercials) point to this not being very good. But hey, I'd love it if we were wrong on this. Funny how of all movies this summer, this one has caused the most ruckus.

Mod note: All this post was doing was stirring the pot on a discussion that was already asked to be stopped. Continuing to do so will lead to a suspension, again.

Hrmmm. Yeah. These recent TV spots I see online aren't hot. Man, if Oswalt says it's good... he's typically on point for the most part... sometimes. But I dunno... still looks mediocre Feig comedy.

And no, The AVGN did not ever say the movie was terrible. What he said was:
