"Say Anything" really wasn't a "teen comedy", more of a dramatic picture with some comedic elements.
And Betsy Russell in "Private School" really gave Phoebe Cates a run for her money when it came to spank-bank deposits.

Since Say Anything... has more laughs for me than about half of the movies listed in this thread, I'm counting it. But if it still doesn't count for some strange technicality because it transcended genre by becoming one of the best movies about young love ever made, then Ferris Bueller's Day Off it is.

ummm, i bought the bluray as a blind buy and just popped it in last night to eventually watch this week, presumably for the first time because, no, i don't think i have ever seen it...
