It's like you've been out of work for nine months. Money is tight. But you have several shares of Apple stock in your safe deposit box.
Counterpoint: the movie-going landscape is forever altered for the foreseeable future. It may recover, but could be years or even a decade. Holding a movie as an asset and keep borrowing against it is a very poor business strategy.

If they're going to keep it on the shelf until the covid situation gets settled down to a point where they can generate the boxoffice revenue they're looking for - then they'll be waiting a long time.

Can we get a year update? It still says 2020 in thread title.

should we just call it the "2020's" incase it's delayed further?

Just remove any dates from all movie threads for now since we really don’t have a clue anymore.

Because at this point, the delay shouldn't affect any new Bond movies. It's not like the MCU which needs to adhere to a timeline which keeps forcing scheduling changes for a number of films.

Re: No Time to Die (Bond 25) (2021, D: Fukunaga) -- News, rumors, etc.

This thread reminds me that a new Bond exists for us to watch but I said to myself as I dived into this thread, oh yeah, a new Bond...wonder if I am ever going to be able to see it. I guess if it finally gets into theaters this fall I have a chance at seeing it in my own home sometime late 2021/early 2022.

ETA: Is it weird that I almost forgot that a new Bond film was supposed to be released last year? However, I bet I am not the only one who saw this thread and said to themselves...oh yeah, that movie I wanted to see last year but could not due to Covid.

What streaming services are going to pay the reported $600M asking price for it? And most people, especially here, are cheapskates and won’t pay $20 to 25 to rent it.

I know the delays suck, but Broccoli and Wilson and MGM need theatre money to get their investment back. This movie reportedly cost $250M to make. I think it’s the most expensive Bond movie ever. And that doesn’t count probably $100M in marketing.

Broccoli and Wilson I don’t think ever really took the idea seriously of selling this to a streaming service. They just threw a number out and everyone said No thanks.

When I saw this thread was bumped I came in here to make a joke about the movie being delayed again.

It’s not as funny when the thread was actually bumped for news of another delay.

but, even by October, when more are vaccinated, this movie will not make close to that budget. Things will still be bad truth be told. And no one is going to run to see a movie in October. Not even the most expensive Bond movie ever. And if reviews are just mediocre, then it’s totally fucked. That’s just fact.

If movie theatres aren’t open by Fall by at least 50 percent capacity and people are still locked up in their homes scared to go out, then Hollywood is fucked. You can kiss blockbusters like this good bye. You’re going to get more Bruce Willis Red Box shit that cost like $2M to make.

AMC, Regal and Cinemark will all be out of business if things aren’t open by Fall.

Unfortunately, and I would hate that day bc you know I love me a great theater experience, but I just don’t see total or even 50% of that happening in 9 months. I hope I’m wrong, I really do. I hope things are normal by then, but I just think it’s still too soon to know anything for sure.

I think the first half of the year is out of the question, but let's say the general public gets vaccinations in May/June... I could see things picking up steam after that. It's optimistic, but I still think it's very possible.

looks like this may be coming out in october even if the producers don't want it to: https://www.darkhorizons.com/no-time...-longer-delay/

Yeah way too much money sunk into advertising and promotion now. I heard this needs to make $900M to 1 billion worldwide to be profitable. That's a tall order.

That sounds insane. If you need to make $900 million just to "break even" , you are already screwed, even before Covid. Will they even be able to make $180 million at this point?
