Thank god. Now bring on 2-3 more movies with the Blofeld storyline, then put him out to pasture the right way. Of course, I'm guessing when Barbara Brocoli showed him his contract with the additional zeros, that may have swayed him a bit.

re: No Time to Die (Bond 25) (2021, D: Fukunaga) -- News, rumors, etc.

Here’s a tweet that Daily Mail writer Baz Bamigboye just sent out into the world:

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I know, I know - the Daily Mail!? Here’s the thing: Bamigboye was right with nearly every one of his scoops regarding Skyfall and Spectre. So this is, in all likelihood, true. Make peace with this fact.

But what you must decide for yourself is, is this good news or not for Bond 25? Writers Neal Purvis and Robbert Wade are popular punching bags for Bond fans, but you must also consider that their keyboards have contributed to both Skyfall and Casino Royale, which are two of the best Bond films of the past 35 years, do not @ me. Yes, Spectre was a mess, but the duo were brought onto that one late in the game, and essentially tasked with rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

No, if you want to get upset about the return of Purvis and Wade, you should cite the time they said “we don’t even know HOW you’d even DO a Bond film in today’s climate!” (I’m paraphrasing, please continue to not @ me.)

Bamigboye signs off with the update that Daniel Craig is still deciding whether he wants to do it or not. I suspect that, much like when he was first approached for the role, he’s going to wait and see a script.

re: No Time to Die (Bond 25) (2021, D: Fukunaga) -- News, rumors, etc.

After saying he’d rather “slash my wrists” than do a final Bond movie, sources say Daniel Craig is ready to sign on to return as 007 after Bond bosses decided Tom Hiddleston is “too smug and not tough enough” for the role.

Multiple sources tell Page Six that Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli has “just about persuaded Daniel Craig to do one more Bond movie.” This comes after Broccoli produced his hit off-Broadway production of “Othello” with David Oyelowo, which won Craig the serious acting plaudits he craved.

A Hollywood source said, “Daniel was very pleased with how ‘Othello’ went and the great reviews. Now Daniel’s talks with Barbara are going in the right direction. They have a script — screenwriting duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade [who’ve penned several Bond movies] are writing and they’ll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit.”

The source added, “Plus, Barbara Broccoli doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston, he’s a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond.”

I'm always down for more Craig as Bond. I've enjoyed all of his films in the series so far.

I figured Craig just needed a little time away from the character (and a shit ton of money dropped in his lap) to reconsider doing another film.

Awesome, make it so. I could see why he gets flamed out after every movie. Form the moment Mendes announced Spectre, there was something nearly every day being reported on until the movie came out, then all the publicity after. It's easy to see how he would flame out.

If those comments are true that Barbara Broccoli doesn't like Hiddleston.

Well, sounds positive that Craig will sign on to do a swan song as Bond.

BTW, how the hell do Neal Purvis and Robert Wade keep getting hired as the Bond writers? This will be their 7th Bond movie.

he really makes a great Bond. Casino Royale presents that and Skyfall cements it...

Screw Craig. I say pull a Never Say Never Again and bring back Brosnan for a one-off flick. Bring back the fun Bond. Not to mention he'd probably do it for a lot less than $150m.

After that, reboot.

Brosnan was a good Bond but holy shit did he get saddled with some bad movies. After Goldeneye, those flicks really went off the rails!

The only Craig Bond film I REALLY loved was Casino Royale. I don't get all the hype about the Mendes ones. Skyfall really wasn't that great to me. I didn't care for "going home" stuff. Spectre had a cool opening and I like Lea Seydoux. But the Blofeld stuff seriously felt like Austin Powers. Neither are terrible by any means. I just don't prefer them. With that said, I'd be ok with one more from Craig. But it is getting time to move on. I want some classic fun back in the franchise. Spectre started to hint at that a bit. And they should go that way if it is his last, especially in celebration with it being the 25th film.

I'm not a fan of Craig as Bond nor have I really liked any of his Bond films, yet I've seen every one of his Bond films on the big screen. The only other Bond actor I can say that about is...George Lazenby! And that may not even be true if you count Lazenby's cameo as Bond in the Man from U.N.C.L.E. TV movie from 1983.

I didn't realize, but in that one year, all 3 Bonds were on the big or small screen (Octopussy, Never Say Never Again, UNCLE). Impressive.

I like Craig as Bond but I agree his films have been hit or miss. Casino Royale is easily the best. I liked Skyfall a lot too but wasn't the biggest fan of Spectre. Quantum of Solace I don't hate but it isn't the greatest by a long shot.

Honestly I'm not even much of a fan of Goldeneye. It was good during the time but hasn't aged very well. I think I have more nostalgia for playing the N64 game than anything. Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough are guilty pleasures though.

Agree with dumping Double-Oh Grumpy Pants and bringing back some fun.

It's sad that the recent Tom Cruise Mission Impossible movies are more like Bond than the recent Bonds are.

Even Timothy Dalton had some fun in his Bonds. You don't have to go super silly (i.e. Brosnan Bond stories) to bring back the fun. But dumping Mr. "I Look Like I Am Always Taking A Dump In My Pants" is a must.

Stop bringing bad Sheep memories ...

Not sorry to see Hiddleston being shot down. I never saw "Bond" in him. Admittedly I still haven't watched The Night Manager, but I did see a quasi-Bond role in Kong: Skull Island. He had moments by didn't carry it off completely.

Dalton could have been a great Bond, but unfortunately they were trying to Experiment with and retool the Bond formula during his brief run. Living Daylights was trying to be a generic 80s actioner, and License to Kill wanted to be Miami Vice.

You know, I thought about that as I was writing my post. I still excluded it from the Brosnan shit movies because it was a good Bond flick for its time and hadn't hit that so-silly-it's-embarrassing level that his other Bonds flicks reached.

You're right though, it hasn't aged well at all.

Goldeneye is good but it is not my favorite Brosnan movie. My favorite of his was Tomorrow Never Dies. Yeah, the villain is weak but the action is really good, the story is not too hokey and I liked the Asian chick in it. Brosnan plays a nice mix of fun and serious in it.

Hell, November Man was not "fun" but I thought Brosnan was excellent in that and I enjoyed it more than any of Daniel Craig's Bond movies.
