From Dark Horizons:
“James Bond” film series producer Barbara Broccoli hasn’t ruled out either a woman or person of color eventually taking on the iconic role of 007 once Daniel Craig wraps the role with his next film opening late 2019. She tells The Daily Mail this week:
“These films tend to reflect the times so we always try to push the envelope a little bit. Anything is possible. Right now it’s Daniel Craig, and I’m very happy with Daniel Craig, but who knows what the future will bring?”

Pretty easy to read between those lines. That oughta be an interesting reveal.

I don't know, seems like just a generic response to deflect the constant chatter about it to me. Especially given how long it seems to take (or cast) these movies.

Lameeeeeeeeeee. If you want to do a female agent movie, make a 006 (or whatever number hasent been used yet) whos a woman agent set in the Bond "world," but leave James Bond James Bond. Atomic Blonde was a kickass, female lead spy movie. not EVERYTHING has to be "equal."

I wouldn't think it would be James Bond if the character was a female. You could have a female 007 and with the Bond last name but I don't know why you'd keep the James name in that case and at the point you're re-naming you're creating a new character. Equality is fine but it gets kind of silly sometimes how far the pandering goes.

It just for attention. There is no way they will ever do that. I think I read a blind item that they were going to be saying shit like this for the headlines.

Bond 25: Danny Boyle High on MGM’s List to Direct (EXCLUSIVE)
By Justin Kroll @krolljvar
With Daniel Craig already on board to return as 007, MGM and Eon are looking to hire a director for the next installment of the James Bond franchise. High on their list is “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle, though sources tell Variety that no formal offer has yet been made.
Boyle has keen interest in the project and has always wanted to direct a Bond film. He is currently developing a project for Working Title, but with no cast currently attached, there is always the possibility of pushing that movie back to direct the 25th installment in the series.
Boyle has long been in MGM and Eon’s sights to direct a Bond movie, going back to 2012’s “Skyfall” and 2015’s “Spectre.”
Daniel Craig is set to return to star and Annapurna Pictures is expected to distribute. MGM had no comment.
Sources tell Variety that “White Boy Rick” director Yann Demange was considered a top choice for the job, but after Annapurna won the distribution rights, there’s been one last push to go after a more well-known name.
Sam Mendes directed the previous two installments, which became the highest-grossing films in the series, with “Skyfall” bringing in $1.1 billion globally and “Spectre” earning $880 million at the worldwide box office. Mendes said after the most recent Bond movie that he would not continue directing films in the 007 series, and Eon and MGM have spent considerable time figuring out the direction in which the new movie needed to go.
Boyle most recently directed the limited series “Trust” for FX, and has directed features including “127 Hours” and “Slumdog Millionaire,” for which he won a directing Oscar. He is repped by WME.

I dig it. He did the Olympic Opening Ceremony with Bond so there’s a connection.

^^^ BBC released a multi disc set of the London Olympics. The larger set has the full opening ceremony and there’s a commentary by Boyle. It’s rather good, but I don’t recall him mentioning specifically anything about the Bond part. I need to watch it again. I think he’d do a great job with a Bond movie.

Yeah, he wouldn't even be the first Oscar winning Brit to helm a Bond film.

I'd be up for a Danny Boyle Bond film. I thought Trance was awesome and super-underrated (okay, the Rosario Dawson scenes may have biased me a bit in favour of the movie, but altogether it was great). Trainspotting 2 was great and is actually my favourite movie of last year. And I watched 127 Hours only recently and the way it kicked off the beginning was pretty "action-oriented"...Danny Boyle explores a lot of genres and seems to do a pretty good job the vast majority of the time, so I'd love to see his take on Bond...Bringing Mendes back would be neat, as I thought both of his Bond films were pretty good, but I don't see how Boyle is that much of a step down...

How A Danny Boyle-Directed James Bond Film Could Happen: Think ‘Trainspotting’ Reunion
They're starting the script from scratch. Doubtful it will make that 2019 date.

Boyle had an idea for a very specific 007 movie, and he and his Trainspotting partner John Hodge have teamed up to work out the beats. Hodge is writing that version and if it all works out, that would be the 007 film that Boyle would helm.
