I was just talking to the wife about this film the other day. I too am surprised it didn't come out yet. Looking forward to it.

My son and I saw this last night. While it was good, I didn't love it. As with a lot of biopics, I felt like it really glossed over a lot of things. In this instance, Kroc setting up franchisees was a scene that was repeated a few times too many at the expense of other possibly more interesting things. That being said, Keaton was great as Kroc and Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch were really good as the brothers.

My friend said it was just ok.

The story behind McDonald’s is almost as fascinating as the world’s obsession with the McRib. The Founder is a straightforward attempt to tell that story (of the history, not the pork sandwich), with a focus on Ray Kroc, the man who turned McDonald’s into what it would come be today, for better or worse. Given what took place, the topic is ripe for a solid film, but despite a screenplay full of ideas and potential to morph into something cinematically great, the film feels undercut by fairly standard direction that takes less of a bite into the material than the customers do into their Big Macs.

Saw the film last night.
I agree with all the sentiments here. Fantastic performances from Michael Keaton, Nick Offerman & John Carroll Lynch (who rightfully anchor the film) but it's a good film not a great one.

I really enjoyed this. It was only playing at one theater within 45 minutes of me, and only two times at that theater. I suppose it won't be playing much longer since the box office was so low, but I do think it was a quality movie filled with great performances (Keaton crushes it as usual). It doesn't have the edge that something like "Social Network" has, but it's still entertaining and worth checking out.

Always interesting to see how it compares to reality.

Watched this last night and it was entertaining. It['s definitely Michael Keaton's show, but the rest of the cast is great.

Blind bought the Blu-ray and just watched it. Overall I enjoyed it a lot. Definitely a solid performance from Keaton as well as Offerman and Lynch. I didn't know the full story so I guess I don't know how much was glossed over but I agree that can be a common issue with films based on real people and events. Still though I found the story pretty engaging. I didn't quite realize how badly Kroc screwed over the McDonald's brothers.

I bought the Blu-ray too. A lot of good extras too.
Too bad this movie has been ignored by most of America.
I wonder how things would have turned out if the McDonald Brothers still owned the franchise.

In my opinion, they probably will expand slowly, just like In-N-Out.

Rented the BD from Red Box and watched it today for the 1st time.
It was an entertaining movie and kept me engaged. Keaton gave a solid performance as Kroc and I liked Lynch and Offerman as the McDonalds brothers.
However, I have mixed feelings about the Kroc character. I can't help but feel like he took advantage of the McDonalds brothers into taking their name and product to making himself a multi-billionaire. That was pretty sad to see depicted in the film that they eventually lost the naming rights and eventually lost their original location. Plus, it was sad reading at the end credits that they were unable to get any of the royalties promised to them. That would have set future generations of their families for life.
Yeah Kroc expanded the brand name and turned it into a Billion dollar corporation, but I think he screwed the brothers. Plus Kroc lived until he was 81 and it sucks that he wasn't decent enough to honor their original handshake deal for the royalties.

Oh there's no doubt he screwed the brothers over big time. I doubt they would have made McDonald's into the brand it is or if it would even exist anymore if Kroc hadn't taken it over but he wasn't a good guy at all in terms of the way he treated them. He basically stepped in and persuaded them to franchise when they didn't want to try any further and then eventually stole the whole idea. He had the balls to call the entire concept something he came up with. It's an interesting story and a good film overall but I definitely felt bad for the brothers.

I thought it was ok. Kept me interested enough.
However, halfway through the movie I had to hit pause and actually make some hamburgers. Movie made me hungry with a craving for burgers. If I could've made a shake, I would have as well.

We watched it as well and thought it was very interesting. Well acted and engaging throughout, but didn't feel like I need to see it again.

I always thought these type of movies would be more interesting as a straight documentary. Kind of reminds me of 'Thirteen Days' with Kevin Costner as the movie just doesn't carry the same drama as Documentaries on the Cuban Missile Crisis.
