I didn’t even realize there was a sequel book to The Shining. This looks awesome though and I’m excited to see it. Love that it’s tied with the Kubrick film and not the mini-series.

Yea so many King adaptations are all over the place with budgets and quality.
King could have his own expansive MCU style universe if a studio wanted.

Mike Flanagan just tweeted:
DOCTOR SLEEP has officially been rated R by the MPAA for "disturbing and violent content, some bloody images, language, nudity and drug use." Sounds about right...

So it's official, they're keeping the overlook hotel intact (It was no longer standing in the book....Doctor Sleep) - this will be what they use to fill time more than likely as the book didn't have enough substance at all. I'm down with that and we'll see how well "The True Knot" (the name of the villians) are portrayed - here are some of the goofy-ass cringe worthy names of the true knot members - let's see if they keep any:
- Token Charlie
- Snakebite Andy
- Grandpa Flick
- Rose the hat
- Crow Daddy
- Barry the Chink
- Silent Sarey

I like the name Crow Dadddy (don't recall the character specifically from the book though), but yeah the rest are ridiculous. Looking at imdb all the names are intact for the film.
Trailer is pretty solid. The book had very little to do with the Shining though. I'm interested to see what other changes (like keeping the Overlook) the film made to tie it into the Shining more than King did. On top of that, which version of the Shining is this movie a sequel to, the book or the Kubrick hack job? If they don't add a bunch of stuff, I don't think audiences will be interested.

I keep worrying that everything in the trailer that has to do with Kubrick's Shining is just a one-off dream sequence in the film that lasts for a minute or two...and we're getting the ultimate "bait and switch" with the trailer. I hope that's not the case.

Fandango is doing an early screening on October 30th. You can use AMC A-List on it. I just booked a ticker, however I just saw that running time above
I have to be at work at 4am the next day. I guess no sleep for me.
Why does this thread still say 2020 as the year when it officially opens on November 8th?
Edit: I canceled my ticket. It’s a too tight turnaround from getting out of the movie and needing to be in bed. I have to wake up at 230am. I’ll wait until a more convenient time.
If the movie was just 2 hours or 1 hour 45, I may have stuck with it. But 2 1/2 hours with an extra 25 in trailers will make it a nearly 3 hour show.

May see this via the early one week screenings, but that's gonna be a busy weekend. I'll be seeing S&M2, Dark Fate, and this one all in a row. A-List is not covering DS either, so we'll see if I even go to that.
