Escape from New York - What should the President have said?
I know at the end of Escape from New York, Snake wasn't happy with the President's answer to his question - so he destroyed the tape in a giant middle finger gesture to the Establishment. But I always thought the President's answer sounded like the typical kind of safe response any politician would've given. Which begs the question - what would've been the better answer to please Snake?

I think if the President had been brutally honest with Snake, he might've earned Snake's respect, although I don't know if that would've caused Snake not to swap tapes. Didn't he have to have done it before asking the President the question? He gave the tape up as they were being rescued.
Anyway, I've always thought the tape was an odd MacGuffin, since I can't figure out what would be on an audio tape that the President couldn't just describe himself.

Because he wasn't a scientist. Haven't seen it in a while but I got the impression that the tape contained a process (nuclear fusion) for creating some kind of nuclear weapon or energy.

Also, can you think of a single presidential address where a US President has basically said, "I'm just going to play this for you now"? Every one I've seen, the President has given a speech that maybe summarizes something, and then further details are disseminated directly to the press afterwards.
It creates a fun "stick it to the man" antihero moment for Snake, but it doesn't make much sense logically speaking.
