Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

Up had a trailer for the home video release with some non-movie animations:

Also, someone recently scanned and uploaded in 4K a 35mm print of the original Spiderman "Twin Towers" teaser. This is the best this version has ever looked.
https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/spider...mi-twin-towers

I feel like I should download a copy. That Youtube posting has been up for several months now, but looking back on this thread at all the broken links to removed Youtube videos is a reminder that they can go away at any time.

That's such a good trailer. I remember getting very excited for the movie from that.

Wow...had forgot how great that teaser for Spider-Man is when I saw it in theaters. Even my mom and dad went to see the first Raimi Spider-Man in theaters and enjoyed it. I picked up the poster that has the Twin Towers reflected in Spidey’s eyes from an on-line retailer that specialized in posters many years back (supposedly an authentic poster, but regardless If it is or not I was still happy with what I received).

Just watched from Beijing with Love on the Hong Kong Blu-ray, and the trailer included on the disc has a final shot that was obviously shot only for the trailer for promotional purposes:

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

Was it ever established if that shot of all the heroes (including Hulk) running in the Infinity War trailer was filmed just for the trailer or if it was a result of reshoots/script changes to the ending? I know they had concept art of Hulk busting out of the Hulkbuster suit, but I don't know at what point that storyline was changed.

I think, at least by the time it was placed in the trailer, they knew that shot wasn't going to be in the movie, and they put Hulk in it as a deliberate misdirection.

https://fansided.com/2018/05/02/aven...usso-brothers/
Joe Russo actually copped to digitally inserting Hulk into that scene purely for the trailer to deceive audiences about Banner’s real storyline. Devious!
I found this comparison that compares all the shots from the various trailers to what was used in the final movie. There's actually a lot of changes. Some of it's just altered color correction, or reframed shots. Some of it's alternate takes or shots not in the final movie, or shots being trimmed a bit. It's funny to see the comment for that specific "money shot" though

I do think that the live action part of the shot may have actually just been shot during production as an alternate angle/take of the initial charge, but then was altered in post for the trailer specifically i.e. putting them in the forest instead of in the field, and adding Hulk. So the final shot is definitely something made only for the trailer, although the live action portion may not have specifically been shot for the trailer.

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

Last time I was at the theater, I saw a teaser trailer for Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. The premise was the two main characters, whom you ever see the faces of, talking about how much they love movie trailers, going early to the theater to watch them, etc., and then talking about what'd they do if they made their own teaser, the main bit being that they'd never show the faces of the main characters. The rest of the teaser was clips from the film, but only the bits that don't show the main characters' faces. Very meta. I can't find this trailer online anywhere though.

Also, the teaser for the new movie Scoob! starts off with Scooby and Shaggy in a movie theater talking about making a new movie, and discussion what the trailer would be. That trailer is available online.

On another forum, the producer of the Knives Out UHD Blu-ray special features mentioned this.

I think he's referring to these three "Meet the Thrombeys" spots, featuring Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, and Michael Shannon in character advertising the businesses they run:

Also, Frank Oz in character promoting a tie-in promotional give-away game, which maybe the above spots were a part of?

Maybe? Actors don't typically list their advertising credits.

For The Man Who Knew Too Little, there was a TV spot where Bill Murray personally guaranteed enjoyment of the movie. The second ad in this video, 30 second mark:

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

Not many movies coming out to theaters right now, so not a lot of teaser or trailers.

However, Free Guy had a recent teaser for a trailer that had footage of the cast reflecting the new COVID-19 reality:

They also did a few fake "cast interview" promos for the film earlier:

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar has a teaser where he title characters talk about movie trailers, and how they wouldn't reveal even their faces in their movie trailer.

I saw this teaser first about a year ago, but since the movie was delayed due to COVID-19, it wasn't posted online until recently, with a changed release date:

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

It was mentioned previously in this thread, but here's the BTTF teaser. It looks like mostly second unit footage, but Michael J Fox does deliver one line.

Also previously mentioned but not linked to, the GoldenEye teaser with Brosnan's line "You were expecting someone else?"

Maybe counting as a "teaser" for the Jurassic World 3 movie, the short film "Battle at Big Rock" was released online:

The Mitchells vs The Machines "Date Announcement" includes original animation not in the movie:

Edit: Also, "Ask a Dumb Robot" featuring Eric and Deborahbot from the film:
