I just remembered the Lilo and Stitch teasers that put Stitch into scenes from other classic Disney films like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast:

Little Mermaid:

Lion King:

Beauty and the Beast:

Aladdin:

Mod Note: There is something wrong with this thread that is causing it to crash on some browsers. It may just be the sheer number of videos, I don't know. I tried playing around with stuff but I was unable to fix the problem. If you experience this issue, one workaround that seemed to do the trick for me was to reduce the number of posts per thread in my user options.

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

Blade Runner 2049 just released a prequel short film for the movie called Nexus: 2036:

It's apparently one of three prequel films, so the other two may be released leading up to the film.

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

Luke Scott, Ridley Scott's son, is the director of the Blade Runner short. I found an interview with Luke Scott online where he talks about directing similar promos for Alien: Covenant:
http://www.itsnicethat.com/features/...ovenant-120517

He also apparently directed the extra-footage promos for Prometheus, The Counsellor, and The Martian. I haven't heard of such a promo for The Counsellor, but I had previously posted the promos for Prometheus and The Martian on this thread.

The interview also states that he's the director of the other 2 Blade Runner shorts.

For Alien: Covenant, there were 4 promos released, Meet Walter, She Won’t Go Quietly, Prologue: Last Supper, and Prologue: The Crossing. There was apparently exclusive footage shot for at least 3 of them.

I think I found The Counselor promo, a short called "Lingerie":

Edit:

Another The Counselor promo, "Malkina & Reina"

This links credit "Lingerie" as directed by Johnny Hardstaff.

The "Malkina & Reina" promo was Luke Scott though.

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

It's been a while since updating this thread.

The third Blade Runner 2049 short film was the most impressive, with WB hyping it by releasing a trailer for it:

And the actual short:

DeadPool 2 has had a few new trailers NSFW

First, the one in front of Logan:

Then a parody of Bob Ross:

And finally, a trailer with some footage from the actual movie, but with an interlude of trailer-specific footage:

Incredibles 2 teaser:

Just found this The LEGO Batman Movie Wayne Manor Tour:

So I Married An Axe Murderer trailer where Mike Myers speaks to the audience:

It's been so long since the thread was updated, nobody mentioned the footage they shot for the trailer with Kevin Spacey as J. Paul Getty in All the Money in the World.

To be fair, that footage wasn't shot specifically for the trailer, it just turned out to be the only way that footage may ever be seen.

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

So I was watching Coco and thinking that it was the first Pixar film that I can recall since the original Toy Story to not have a trailer with any exclusive footage to it....

Then I get to the "Trailers" section of the bonus disc for Coco, and this promo, "Dante's Lunch," was listed as a trailer:

Re: Movies that shot scenes specifically for the trailers?

So, now that Deadpool 2 has been released, we now know that there's some shots in the final trailer they shot specifically for only the trailer:

Deadpool 2 spoilers:
Spoiler:
They shot extra footage of the X-Force characters to hide the fact that most of them die so quickly in the film.

https://uproxx.com/movies/deadpool-2...rick-spoilers/
Co-writer Rhett Reese explains, “One of the things we did, we asked the actors if they’d be willing to shoot extra footage – that indicated they were in more of the movie than we were actually going to use them in. So, Terry Crews and Bill Skarsgård and these guys all went out back in front of a green screen and did a bunch of fighting with stuntmen. And you see it in trailers. You see Bedlam kicking ass. They all stayed an extra half day to do that. It was awesome.“

“When they came to set we shot additional material that we knew we were just going to put in trailers that would never be in the movie,” adds Leitch. “It was all about playing a prank like only Deadpool would do. Ryan is reaching out from the screen and tickling you.”

That hair. I follow her on Instagram. She still looks great. Not that mane of hair, though.

But I remember that promo spot.

Just came across trailers for the Terry Jones film Personal Services that had him talking about the film to the audience.

Here's the "U certificate" trailer (UK)
