I assume there's some significance to the "team" being all female? It was hard to tell in the earlier teaser but it's obvious here. I'm intrigued . . .

I'm thinking all the males went in ahead of them and they're all that's left?

Saw the first trailer for that at the show yesterday. Looked pretty trippy. Absolutely love Portman so I will check this out at some point.

Paramount doesn't seem to have much faith in this one. Limited promotion and international rights sold to Netflix. Apparently if it's Sci-fi and not on par with Arrival, it isn't getting a push anymore

Re: Annihilation (2018, D: Alex Garland) S: Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac

I think it was a dumb idea to sell the international rights to Netflix like what happened with The Hitman's Bodyguard. The movie will end up on all the pirated sites within a few days.

If Netflix wants to do an arrangement like this, they need to improve their copyright protection. Web rips are bound to happen.

For those of us that thought Arrival was a confusing mess and are madly in love with Natalie think they are foolish

All I know is it's a sci-fi.
Definitely goes in my queue.

Nice...the trailer (I think I have only seen the one playing before films in theaters) had me interested in the film so I might give this a shot in theaters. It does seem to be getting the bare minimum push by Paramount so perhaps the good social media comments will cause Paramount to throw a bit more promo money around to ensure the film does not bomb in theaters.

It is not like it would be a financial bloodbath for Paramount if the film peters out in theaters even after they spend some money to make folks aware of the movie, especially if the IMDB reported budget of 55 million is accurate.

I do think this film has a chance to surprise and it does not sound like a snoozefest so it has that going for it.

I enjoy sci-fi films in the theater rather than at home. Get a subscription service

I guess you didn't see all the early Twitter reactions.

Reviews are starting to come out now and they are very positive.

Re: Annihilation (2018, D: Alex Garland) S: Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac

I have a feeling this one will probably have to recoop it's budget via home video. I just don't see this making much money at all. Just not much buzz, nor does the topic seem that exciting, and I'm sure general public has no clue what it's about, nor care.

Black Panther will demolish it and it won't be able to recover IMO.

I'm sure to those who are familiar with the subject matter will enjoy, but it feels like a small niche movie and that's why it go dumped to a Feb/March premiere date.

Hope those who go like it.

I doubt Paramount is that worried since they sold the international rights to Netflix.

Going to see this tomorrow at an iPic theater. Anyone been to one before? Pretty expensive, but I've heard it's great, especially for dates.
