I hate flashbacks in general. Having half of the films set up with flashback made it hard for me to enjoy the flick. Didn't really care for the main character but liked the two X-Men. Favorite part was the opening credits and the cast descriptions instead of using actual names.

I preferred the editing/flashbacks. Allowed the movie to start on full tilt instead of slow build-up with origin story.

The fact that this made so much money without any 3D showings (which add $3 to $5 to each ticket sold) makes it's earnings even more remarkable.

Caught this today in a matinee and enjoyed it. It was interesting in that I will usually stay until the end of the credits for all films, and I'm frequently the last one in the theater. I bet 80% of the folks today stayed until the end, like they expected a post-credits scene or perhaps had heard about it.

There's a petition going around to get Deadpool(not Ryan Reynolds) to host SNL

After 5 mins of dialogue getting bleeped-out I would be ready to turn it off.

Do not over expose the character! It'll get lame really fast.

Unless Reynolds and Miller write everything...no

SNL will absolutely fuck over the character with some stupid shut.

A joke stretched out for 90 minutes on a show that doesn't know how to end a joke? No thanks.

Didn't care for Ed Skrein on the new Transporter movie, but he was great here as the villain.

Had a lot of fun with this movie, loved all the 4th wall stuff, easter eggs, humor. Really liked Colossus/Negasonic playing off of Deadpool.

On the other hand, not sure how 'GOOD' of a movie this was, the story was pretty thin (Who did Ajax work for, motivation?)

it's too bad he took that Transporter gig. I thought he was a much better Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones than whoever that guy is that's currently playing him.

The guy who's playing him now was pretty good on Treme.

I loved the movie, buuutt.... I work the door at my local theater:

Parents! Stop taking your little ones to see this movie. What is wrong with you? Don't come complaining to me about the sex and violence in the movie after I remind you it's rated "R" for those reasons.

I liked Skrein's Daario better too. As for this movie, I thought he was a weak link but not really his fault. The character wasn't written/developed too well, partly due to budgets cuts from the various interviews about other characters that were supposed to be involved.

Completely agree. I was dreading having to sit through and hour of back story before the character becomes Deadpool. The structure of the narrative allowed them to spread out his appearance throughout the whole movie.

I'd say a good bunch away from the CGI shots and the really athletic type of stuff plus some slightly dangerous stunts. Sooooo the usual?

By the way, the test footage from a long ass time ago - haven't seen it in a while, but it seemed to be the same (in terms of what happened) as the movie. Wondering whether it was re-used, but even if not, it shows they had that sequence written out a long time ago and kept it intact.

It was reference by the time they were in production. And there's a lot of little details they changed. Not reused footage. What we saw was newly made stuff w/ the concept being built off of.

Ah ok - it had been a while, but makes sense, since the test stuff didn't seem 100%

Re: Deadpool (Tim Miller, 2016) — The Reviews Thread — SPOILERS

Here's the test footage.

They took a lot from it and moved around dialogue to other situations in the film. I DID however think they stole a shot from the concept but they did re do it. The car slamming to the side and going up I thought was taken from it but it was different too.
