Swiss Army Man (2016, D & W: Kwan and Scheinert) S: Dano, Ratcliffe, & Winstead
Hank, a man marooned on an island, finds a corpse washed up on the beach and uses it as a tool to get back to the mainland. When the corpse turns out not to be entirely dead, Hank befriends him and must teach him about the world once again.
Paul Dano plays Hank, a young man stranded on an island — how, where, or why, we don’t know, but he’s had enough and is ready to hang himself. Hank ends up changing his mind when a dead body washes up on shore — enter Radcliffe — and after trying to perform CPR Hank realizes he’s unleashed a torrent of gas from the corpse..

I like the AV Club's review headline:
Daniel Radcliffe’s farty boner corpse movie isn’t too bad

It sure looks interesting. Something different. A24 may not make huge tentpole money-makers but can sure put out something interesting.

This is starting to roll out in limited release this week. Currently 69% on RT: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/swiss_army_man/
I just found out Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra worked on the soundtrack.

Weekend at Bernie's and sequel are two of my favorite odd-premise comedies. The SAM trailer I saw left me with a similar vibe and made me laugh, so I'm in.

Probably one of the most original things to come out in a while. Still want to see this just for that.

My local theatre is getting it this weekend. I think I'm going to check it out tomorrow afternoon since I get out of work early for the holiday weekend.

If movies in this day and age can pull off being unique and original and I sit through the mounds of crap Hollywood churns out than I probably owe it to myself to see this. I love Radcliffe and Danos work to begin with.

It's playing pretty wide starting tomorrow. Very interested in this. Hoping it has a really good ending.

This is probably one of the best movies I've seen this year. Very unique.
I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending.

well thank god I didn't have to pay for this - what a waste of my time. this movie to me was both twee and dumb at the same time.

Loved this. What an odd, beautiful, hilarious movie. I'm not the biggest Paul Dano fan, but he was fantastic in this. As was Harry Potter. Highly recommended.

I liked it. Loved the music and the general irreverent attitude it had throughout.
Not so sure what to think of the ending. In a way, it's what I expected after seeing the trailer, but in another way, it's totally not what I expected. Hard to determine exactly without saying too much.
I'll probably revisit it some day. I wonder if they had to pay to use THAT theme song in the movie.
Also, the cameo at the end made me smile.

I guess I'll add that right next to "C unt" in words I can use.

One of the better movies I've seen this year.
Paul Dano is attempting suicide and is interrupted by a dead body that washes up on shore in front of him.
Dano then uses Daniel Radcliff's corpse as a vehicle among many other uses to try to get back home.
Lot's of viewer complaints about the use of fart noises in the movie
but it wasn't a silly fart movie it was used with purpose for the journey that Dano's character takes.
All I can say about the story is that it's full of metaphors for loneliness and isolation.
It doesn't end the way you expect it will as you're watching.
I really enjoyed it. recommend a rental.
