mother! (2017, D: Aronofsky) S: Lawrence, Bardem, Pfeiffer, Harris

Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film starring Jennifer Lawrence has landed at Paramount Pictures.

The studio has come on board to distribute the pic. Sources tell Variety that Javier Bardem is in talks to co-star with Lawrence, even though reps for Aronofsky, Paramount and Bardem would not comment on the negotiations.

Aronofsky will write, direct and produce through his Protozoa Pictures banner along with Scott Franklin and Ari Handel. The filmmaker and the studio are planning on a spring shoot.

The film centers on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence. It is set for release in 2017.

The “Black Swan” helmer has a first-look deal at New Regency who were not able to match the deal Paramount presented at the table when the film was first brought to the market.

Aronofsky had been toying with several ideas for his next project for the last couple of months, including an untitled Evel Knievel biopic starring Channing Tatum and a family film, before finally turning his attentions to this pic. As Variety first reported, Lawrence was always his top choice to star and she quickly attached herself after meeting with Aronofsky about the film.

While a number of actors were chasing role, Bardem was always Aronofsky’s top choice for the part and after Lawrence was locked in, quickly offered him the role.

Lawrence and Aronofsky are repped by CAA, while Bardem is repped by WME.

I like Lawrence. I'm glad she is aligning herself with good directors... but I'm afraid she is starting to get into Anne Hathaway territory where she becomes increasingly annoying and just needs to go away for a while.

What a horribly generic plot summary.

It's a sequel to Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.

Jennifer Lawrence shall soon rule the world.

Aronofsky and Bardem? Yes!

And then they have to fuck it all up with Lawrence. No worries, she'll give an entirely pedestrian performance and be nominated for every fucking award known to man.

This is not a David O. Russell film.

Doesn't matter, she's the new Meryl Streep!

She can actually act though. She is insanely overrated right now. I dunno if she's up for anything in awards or whatever but...she's had very nice of a career w/ Russell... and that's her award bits right there.

Yes she can. Her best film and best performance IMO is Winter's Bone.

Aside from Winter's Bone, I guess I just find her way overrated. Not because she can't act, but probably because she gets praise heaped on her for every performance she gives in an overrated David O. Russell film.

Lawrence is a decent actress but for some reason I just don't like her all that much. I like her in Winter's Bone best too. American Hustle is decent too.

I don't get the praise that recent Russell films have been getting, he used to be a director I kept an eye out for, lately it's all just been mundane material.

But the critics and the academy seems to love him and Iñárritu for one reason or another. At least Iñárritu has some visual flair going on.

He has become a poor facsimile of Scorsese.

Part of the disruption had better include ass to ass with Jennifer Connelly.

The first gift they receive is the double headed dildo she used.

Neither do I. I'd also say the same thing about Alexander Payne.

I actually like AGI even though lately he is more style over substance.
Trying to compete with his buddies Cuaron and Del Toro.

AGI always seemed like more the storyteller over the visually tense Cuaron and imaginative Del Toro, but honestly I always feel a disconnect with the characters in AGIs movies, especially now that he's moved toward showy cinematography and editing above all else.

I've seen all of AGI's films and I still don't think he's done anything better than Biutiful.

Biutiful is a emotionally brutal film... made even more brutal cuz it's fucking Javier Bardem doing it. That man has a face to depress you in his sadness.

Don't care for Lawrence, but Aronofsky has a lifetime pass from me for Requiem for a Dream, so I'll be seeing this regardless.

No one understands why I don't like Silver Linings Playbook.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Domhnall Gleeson are in negotiations to join Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem in Darren Aronofsky’s untitled Paramount Pictures drama.

Also in discussions to join the roll call are veteran actor Ed Harris and Gleeson’s brother, Brian Gleeson.

Aronofsky wrote the script, which focuses on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests come to their home, disrupting their lives.

Character details were not revealed.

A June production start is being penciled for a release in 2017.

Aronofsky and his partners at Protozoa Pictures, Scott Franklin and Ari Handel are producing.

Pfeiffer’s last screen appearance was with Robert De Niro in Luc Besson’s crime thriller The Family. She has two projects in the cast, the HBO Bernie Madoff movie The Wizard of Lies and the indie drama Beat-Up Little Seagull. She is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Hirsch Wallerstein.

Paradigm-repped Gleeson, who last year starred in Ex Machina and played a villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is joining Will Forte in A Futile and Stupid Gesture, Netflix’s movie about the founding of National Lampoon.

I agree, even though I haven't seen Noah. One day I'll watch it, but I've been putting it off because I have a feeling I'm not going to like it.
