To be fair... she was explaining it before it was released. I do wish I had read up on it.

It really isn't unusual for the actress or director to explain movies like that.

I'm still not sure how I feel about this movie. While I was watching it I understood the movie was allegory and symbolism on religion and creation and I was entertained by the events unfolding on screen, however I typically don't care for these type of movies (for example, I hated "Titus"). I'm glad I saw it, I thought the performances were great, however this is one time viewing for me.
I still look forward to Aronofsky's future projects...Noah was the only film of his I genuinely didn't like. I guess Pi too.

I thought it was a good movie. It didn't blow my mind but it sure did some of the other people in the theater and they were pissed. I heard, "this is the worst movie ever" and "I didn't get it." This one old couple that was not going to review the movie decided to and they were not amused. The guy was steaming mad. I laughed at him.

Well, on the plus side, Requiem for a Dream did bomb in theaters too as did Pi. Dude does love his religious themes.

Well, that’s one way to greet a crowd.
Jennifer Lawrence and her director-turned-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky attended an Academy screening in New York of their new film mother! on Thursday. And while the film recently got slapped with a rare F rating from audience polling service CinemaScore, the couple proved they aren’t afraid to clap back at the haters.
During the Q&A portion of the night at the Museum of Modern Art, Lawrence gave critics of the divisive film the middle finger onstage as Aronofsky laughed alongside her.

She doesn't really have a "nothing to lose" attitude. But man can you make her look bad by freeze framing and cutting clips short, she'll learn one day that context is rarely established anymore.
If the media/internet wants to make you look bad, they'll make you look bad.

It is really getting sad now.

And yes I have seen it. It deserves all this.

If only it had the F cinemascore on there
For this weekend:

Our target comparison is 2009's The Box, which also opened with $7.5 million and received an "F" CinemaScore. The film dropped 58.3% in its second weekend and we're going to go just a tad higher, anticipating a 60% dip and a $3 million sophomore weekend.

I’m not a huge fan of JL as a person and I think she is hurting her career with her politics. I’m sure she will outlive this rough patch and come back stronger at some point. I predict she breaks up with Aronofsky sometime soon and blames him for the poor performance.
BTW: I walked out of the movie not loving it but a week later I have the urge to watch it again. I am a huge Aronofsky fan though.
