Re: Untitled Darren Aronofsky Film - S: Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem

I'll give it a shot because of the talent involved both in front of and behind the camera. While I will agree that Lawrence is overrated, you know darn well this movie doesn't get funding without her involvement.

I know I'm late to the party on your post but I got a good laugh out of it - I cringed when I saw her in American Hustle - such a shit performance...laughably bad.

Re: Untitled Darren Aronofsky Film - S: Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem

Aronofsky’s upcoming project, an untitled relationship drama due to come out next year, co-stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem. Aronofsky said the Spanish actor was an especially gratifying collaborator. “I could ask him to do something specific and he’d come at it with that intention,” he said, “but then that wave just comes and you need to surf that.”

Þóranna, the moderator, mentioned that Aronofsky was a great communicator who was able to get his vision across to the whole crew, through a method he called The Circle. However, Aronofsky begged off discussing the mysterious approach.

His New Film Is a Mystery

Aronofsky also remained highly secretive regarding his latest project, which finished shooting a few weeks ago in Canada, with Lawrence, Domhnall Gleeson, Michelle Pfeiffer and Bardem among the cast. But a few details slipped out. Aronofsky mentioned as an aside that he shot the project on 16mm film. But he also revealed that for the final day of shooting, he worked with digital cameras for some of the CGI-heavy visuals that will be included in the film. But no news about the project was more exciting to the Icelandic audience was the fact that the Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson (“The Theory of Everything”) will be writing score.

The most tantalizing detail came up during a question about incorporating political messages in narrative work. “I think all my early films were more about ideas,” he said. “When it came to ‘Noah,’ there was this clear environmental statement in the original gospel, which was interesting to push forward. My latest project probably has similar political intentions behind it, but first and foremost responsibility as a narrative filmmaker is making something that is emotional and can connect with an audience.”

I really wish Lawrence wasn't in this. I mean, I'd buttfuck her, but I wouldn't put her in my movie.

Apparently you can't do one without the other.

Aronofsky will see what kind of reaction this movie gets, then dump Lawrence like a bad habit. Lucky bastard gets to call banging Jennifer Lawrence a necessity to get his movie made.

From the brief description, nope.

“A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.”

re: mother! (2017, D: Aronofsky) S: Lawrence, Bardem, Pfeiffer, Harris

Paramount Pictures has moved its Jennifer Lawrence thriller “Mother!” forward by a month to Sept. 15 from its previous Oct. 13 release date.

The studio confirmed the date change Thursday but did not elaborate. It’s possible that “Mother!” could be premiered at the Venice Film Festival, which opens on Aug. 30, or the Telluride Film Festival, which opens two days later, or even at the Toronto Film Festival, which opens Sept. 7.

“Mother!” is directed and produced by Darren Aronofsky through his Protozoa Pictures banner along with Scott Franklin and Ari Handel. It co-stars Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kristin Wiig, Domnhall Gleeson, and Ed Harris, in addition to Lawrence.

Lawrence and Bardem portray a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

“Mother!” will open against Open Road’s Blake Lively drama “All I See Is You” and Lionsgate’s actioner “American Assassin,” starring Michael Keaton and Dylan O’Brien.

Lawrence starred last year in “Passengers” and as Raven Darkholme-Mystique in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Her other upcoming thriller “Red Sparrow,” directed by “Hunger Games” helmer Francis Lawrence, is set for a March 2 release from Fox. Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for Academy Awards for “Joy,” “Winter’s Bone,” and “American Hustle,” and won for “Silver Linings Playbook” in 2012.

“Mother!” is the first film that Aronofsky has directed since 2014’s “Noah.” He received an Academy Award nomination for best director for 2010’s “Black Swan.”

I love that James Jean was commissioned for that poster art. If anyone is unfamiliar with his work, I highly recommend you check it out!

So glad we only have to wait until September!

Despite the fact that I thought Noah was a huge bust, Aronofsky still gets my butt into a theater seat.

I see this movie being the kind of horror along the lines of The Witch and It Comes at Night. In short, it's thoughtful and slow, emphasizing creepy feelings over jump factor. It gets good recognition from the critics but then general audiences get a look they pan the hell out of it. I think it's kind of a mistake to open the movie only one week after "It" , but you never know.

I think it will be over the top weird horror, like Black Swan.

^ That I could dig. Psychological drama my ass, Black Swan is a Cronenbergian horror flick, and a damn good one IMO. This one seems to have shades of Cronenberg as well.

Also, I would LOVE it if they found a way to play this song when the credits roll.

I hear that song in my head every time this movie gets mentioned

Aronofsky is not really one for subtlety outside of maybe The Wrestler which this does not remind me of. I mean lets take a look:

Pi : The one with the drill to the head
Requiem : Ass to Ass
The Fountain : The sci-fi historical metaphorical epic with a jizzing tree and bubble transport
Noah : Rock Lobster Monsters
Black Swan : Live action Perfect Blue with human swan necks, additional body horror and nail files to the face
