Hell, I stayed away from the Creed thread for 3 weeks until I saw it. Like I said, you are a dummy if you go into these review threads wanting nothing spoiled.

I thought it was always discussed that the regular "announcement" thread is for that. Once the review thread gets posted, read at your own risk.

You didn't like the movie anyway, so why even care?

Whether he liked the movie seems irrelevant to the spoiler discussion.

And for what it's worth, spoilers have always been allowed in review threads. Some people like to use them the first few days of release, but that's more of a courtesy. For something like Star Wars I'd think most people would be smart enough to stay out of the reviews thread and most social media if they're particularly sensitive to spoilers. Plus with all the story bits and lore people want to discuss right away, I do think its easier to just not use the tags to discuss things.
And there's a thread in the feedback forum about it for discussion too

I'd be for a separate spoiler review thread...
Lol, the ending was on youtube for about an hr, watched it about a dozen times...refresh the page..and like that... it's gone.

While I liked the film, the over the top rehashing prevented me from loving it. JJ Abrams was at once perfect and wrong to direct here. Perfect because he's smart enough not to use endless green screen with bored to death actors. He won't fuck it up but he won't be original, he'll pander to the fans and the film won't quite hit the highs of the originals.
But, it's enjoyable. Rey killed it. The practical effects/CGI/action were all well handled. The bar was set so low with the prequels, anything decent would've been applauded. Ultimately, if this reboot sets the stage for Rian Johnson doing something interesting, it'll be worth it. Still, this feels like a double to me where they could've easily hit a homerun by committing to an original storyline.

Yeah. I'm really keen to see wtf Johnson has got going w/ VIII.
At the premiere, Hamill looks pretty damn fit. In this one he still a bit of fat on him. Not anymore though.

The number one thing this fantastic film had going for it that the prequels lacked was the real, genuine feelings of camaraderie and fond friendship between the rebel characters. The brief exchanges between Poe and Finn were priceless. That is something completely lacking in the prequels. NO one seems to like each other or have real feelings toward one another.

At least the prequels had originality. No one knew what a Trade Federation was until Phantom Menace came around!

the Star Wars movie franchise needed to so badly be "reset" as it had terribly lost its way to the point that fans are more than willing to put up with rehashing and heavily stealing themes from the better moments of the OT. Ep7 was the relaunching point... the test reel to set the tone and prove that the new creative team knew what Star Wars was all about. I fully expect that the more "original" tales will come in Ep8, 9, and the stand-alone films. But Star Wars, for the "adult" fans, was on life support, and this was the shot of comfortable adrenaline that it needed to get those fans reengaged.

I liked the fact that they went back to 4-5-6's way of keeping non-humans as major characters minimal, where in 1-2-3 they were freaking everywhere! I think they were so entranced by the fact that they had better CGI at their disposal in the late 90s that they didn't stop and ask themselves if they should use it so much.

Got back from a second screening at Alamo Drafthouse and dang if it didn't get better. Got even more emotional at certain parts than the first time.

Yeah the humor was good. Loved how Chewie was used as comic relief a bit but not beat you over the head with gags like Jar Jar or other Prequel Trilogy characters. BB-8 was great too. Very emotive for a non-speaking droid and was cute but again not terribly in your face cutesy.

I said this earlier and I stand by it.
I feel the loud, silent, loud dynamic is integral to the opening. I like TFA, but the SW theme starting out cold after the Lucasfilm logo felt off.
Regardless of producer or distributor or whatever, the films' openings are dependent on the great big Fox fanfare fading out to silence and then the explosive Star Wars theme. The SW theme was written to compliment the Fox fanfare. Presenting the film without it is simply doing it wrong. There is no wiggle room and nothing about this issue is open to opinion.

People keep saying that, its simply not true. Anyone that saw Star Wars in 77 knows it was funny as hell, the audience was laughing throughout. I guess most have forgotten how many genuine laughs are in it, from so many repeat viewings.

I liked it more that there is no studio logo than a slapped on Disney logo which really would have felt out of place.
