Looking for Documentary Recommendations
I am looking to view some docus that have been made in the last few years. I've seen Tim's Vermeer and Jodorowsky's Dune which were both excellent. Looking to learn something but avoid gut-wrenching, true-life horror stories (Holocaust, famine, etc.). Thanks.

Watched MERU the other night. Pretty good stuff. If you liked Everest you'll like it.
If you didnt like Everest, watch it anyway. Some pretty good footage.

Jodorowsky's Dune is one of the most incredible documentaries I've ever seen--and a lot of fun. [EDIT: I didn't originally notice that you've seen this. I still stand by my recommendation.]
If you've never seen Crumb--doo eet!
Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey is the best documentary I've seen about the martial arts legend.
Also a second vote for Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief.

I found The Search for General Tso pretty entertaining, and pretty informative on Chinese food in America on the whole.
Surprised no one has mentioned Dear Zachary yet.

Re: Looking for Documentary Recommendations
Though it's a top-10 doc for me, I didn't think it would fit OP's guidelines:
And that one sure is a punch to the gut.
I've got this recorded. Might finally get to it tomorrow.

Alive Inside is quite a remarkable movie about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and the integration of music to the brain to stimulate memories. Highly recommended.

It's not recent but, if you're fan of fantastic art & artists... and you can find it, I'd recommend the Frank Frazetta doc "Painting with Fire".
Not big on documentaries really, but I've picked up a few.
Tim's Vermeer
Jordorowsky's Dune
Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life
Pumping Iron
Tales of the Rat Fink
Painting With Fire
Oh crap… started looking thru my collection and found more than I thought I had.
The Sci-Fi Boys
Will Eisner - Profession: Cartoonist
Chuck Jones: Extremes & Inbetweens A Life in Animation
Stan Lee's Mutants, Monsters & Marvels
Countdown to Wednesday (about comic book publishing)
Comic-Con: Episode IV A Fan's Hope
Stripped (about comic strips)
Star Wait
Harlan Ellison: Dreams With Sharp teeth
Beast Wishes: The Fantastic World of Bob & Kathy Burns
The Kid Stays In The Picture
John Ford Dreaming the Quiet Man
