Never knew that the Egyptian gods were a couple of white dudes.

Jesus... that is such a gringo outlook of egypt. They didn't even try to brown them up a bit.

Judging off all the egyptians I know, they just need a good bronzer.

But then Proyas was born in Egypt, so who knows, but he's Greek which mucks it up. This looks like Clash of the Titans for the Percy Jackson crowd.

I keep hoping that Proyas is going to put something else good out. There were hints of his prior talent in Knowing but the overall movie was a bit of a mess.

I'm actually interested just for Butler and Proyas.

Been damn near 20 years since Proyas directed anything worthwhile. And even that (Dark City) doesn't hold up all that well on a recent viewing.

The special effects perhaps, but Dark City overall still holds up very well. Too bad it's now looking like the highlight of his career. Well, Dark City and The Crow perhaps.

The acting based on the snippets in that trailer, is laughable. This looks ridiculous. Proyas has lost whatever he had.

This looks laughably bad. If it weren't for Butler I'd think this was some shitty Syfy Channel movie.

I'm interested. Looks to be a good fantasy/action/adventure flick. We'll see...

I watched it again recently, feel like it's aged great, movie is so damn good, then DBZ.

I could be wrong. But is it "future Egypt"? That's what it looked like to me. Wouldn't be hard to write in some white dudes.

The trailer doesn't have me buzzed. But I have faith that Proyas will deliver some good feelings. I, Robot felt like his dud - even though it had some interesting visuals, and felt like it was on the edge of being epic (like he was held back by the producers maybe). I really liked Knowing, and the chances it took (especially the last five minutes).

Maybe its just me then. I remembered it as being a great genre movie and was shocked at how it didn't hold up at all to what I remembered it being on a recent viewing. The dialogue and everything just seemed corny.

The dialogue was never great, but overall, take the atmospheric look as an example. Now look at the trailer in the first post. That's what I miss about his style he gave us in Dark City and The Crow. Even the characters had interesting aspects to them. I don't see anything like this in the last few movies he's done.

Knowing was a bit of a neo noir - a middle ground.

Knowing may have had a weak script but goddamn did it have balls to go where it did and not apologize for it. Especially at the end of it.

Honestly, I'm one of the few that's looking forward to it. I'm gonna go to the biggest and loudest theater to watch it. Fuck it. I miss Proyas.

As far as my favorite Proyas films go - in order:

The Crow
Dark City
Garage Days
I, Robot
Knowing

Basically in chronological order.

Scriptwise - this was written by the guys who wrote Dracula Untold and Last Witchhunter.

I got my tickets for this. So much for seeing it on a big screen - my location is playing it in the small screens. Oh well.

Seeing it tomorrow night.

I keep hoping that studios start making movies based off of mythology, there's so much to go off of. While not what I'm looking for, this one seems like a wild ride, so I'll check it out.
