Loudest movie you ever heard at a movie theater?

What is the loudest movie you ever heard at a movie theater?

Man Of Steel is probably the loudest movie that I ever heard at a movie theater.

Probably From Dusk till Dawn back in 1996. It was one of the first films in SDDS. Man, it was freakin' loud. I loved it!

Not sure about the loudest but the most quiet movie heard at a movie theater was The Conjuring.

Bad Boys II. Front row (probably a factor)- theater sucked, way too loud.

It may not have been the absolute loudest, but "Drag me to Hell" was positively thunderous in addition to having one of the best sound mixes I've ever heard - period.

Probably the night I ran "Showgirls" for myself after zero people had bought tickets for the night's last showing.

Probably My Dinner with Andre. Overall it was ridiculously loud with the possible exception of the dialogue.

I don't know about movie volume. My theaters always have that under control.

I remember seeing Rollerball (dafuq?) on opening night. It was so packed with talking kids, that I couldn't make out a lot of the dialogue. It was PG-13, Friday night, with a movie like that, at the prime 8PM showing. And the movie didn't hold the kids' attention. It's the loudest theater I was ever in. I don't think I ever went back to the theater during that prime time again. I'm a Sunday morning guy.

I do remember that scene in my theater was clear and booming.

25 years later and it is still Die Hard 2. I think the people running the sound were fucking with the audience, or trying to blow out the theater speakers.

BTTF2

For some reason, that one was cranked up LOUD. When Doc first crashes into the trash cans at the beginning, everyone was shocked by how loud it was.

And then came the scream from that girl when Marty breaks into "His" house...

(Remembered another)

This one freaked me out. On (Of all movies) Lethal Weapon 4, There's a scene that opens on a night-time storm in China. A speaker, which sat silent through the whole feature, suddenly blasted outloud at the beginning of that scene. I'm certain the entire crowd turned their heads away from the screen to see what that was. It seriously sounded like the wall was gonna fall on us.

Gravity in IMAX

It was like "The image is amazing! We have to crank the audio to outdo it!"

Fucking deafening.

GOTG (Atmos)
I only know this because my daughter is pretty sensitive to noise and was holding her ears for much of the film

What's that french werewolf movie? I saw it at a sneak preview and they played it so loud it did blow out a speaker, which then rattled and buzzed for the rest of the show. Way too fucking loud.

Expendables 2

Theater volume was just too loud, so not necessarily the movie itself.

I was having trouble thinking of a choice -- but yeah, that would have to take the cake. The pre-title scene was so bombastic it actually had my seat rumbling.

In 1998, I attended a screening of Hardware at the Bloor theatre in Toronto that Richard Stanley was in attendance at to do a Q&A. He got them to crank the sound up so loud that pieces of the ceiling started raining down during the movie. The whole place was shaking like crazy.
