I'm really surprised there hasn't been one for that movie yet. That could probably give "The Battle of Brazil" a run for it's money!

The lengthy doc on "The Devil's Rejects" (DVD only) is absolutely fantastic.

What all has he done? If they're anything like his work on Jaws, I'll check them all out most likely.

Sounds like the documentaries on Zombies films are better than the films themselves.

Really, all those documentaries need is post-production footage and you can get an entire "Making-a-movie" experience in a can. Seriously, I never knew how engaging location-scouting can actually be.

But House of a 1,000 Corpses has a different story to tell. You always hear about completed movies that end up being shelved. But a completed movie that bounces from studio to studio is something rare. I'd love to hear the entire story about that.

Laurent Beuzerue has done a bunch of great stuff. Everything he made prior to around 2005 is great. Around that time the docs began getting diced up in to 3 minute segments. But his long form stuff is great.

First of all he's done all the Spielberg classics
Jaws
CEOT3K
1941
I think he did the Indy ones
ET

He did a bunch of DePalma
Obsession
Carrie
Dressed to Kill

Any Ridley Scott film documentary by Charles de Lauzirika. His documentary on Prometheus is better than Prometheus. His doc on Blade Runner is a fucking work of art.

Waaah? This is the first I'm hearing about this. Is it available unedited somewhere? I could easily watch six hours of footage from the Hellraiser and Hellraiser II sets.

Yep, his doc on the making of Alien is fantastic.

Dangerous Days from Bladerunner is epic.

The Battle For Brazil -- not so much a making of but a WTF happened afterward. Absolutely amazing. The book of course is even better, but it's fantastic. The fact that there's actual Sid Shinebox audio on that thing is amazing.

Re: Favorite comprehensive movie making of documentary?

My favorites have to be:

12 Monkeys: The Hampster Factor - as mentioned, going into the marketing of the film is something rarely seen in the docs.

Jaws: The Shark is Still Working - just amazing all around.

The Pixar Story - not specific to a single film, but a pretty entertaining and comprehensive look at Pixar.

Honorable Mention(since it's television):

Journeys Below the Line: 24 - The Editing Process - It's pretty brief at thirty minutes, but a very tightly packed doc about making 24 with Kiefer Sutherland. Highly recommended.

Here's a link to Laurent Bouzereau on IMDB

He's done close to 300 documentaries / features.

Damn, he's a one-man "Making of" factory. He's turned out almost 400 of these in 20 years. That's almost 20 a year. Most are about films from years earlier, so I'm guessing these are all designed as DVD extras. I haven't seen or heard of a single one of these. He did a bunch on Miyazaki's films, yet I don't recall a single one being on any of my Miyazaki DVD editions of those films. Curious.

You don't have a region-free player? If you have an old SD DVD player, you can probably hack it with minimal effort.

That Leviathan is too much. I only watched about an hour and a half of the first one before going to bed one evening, haven't gotten back to it yet. It is overly redundant. They ask everybody involved the same question, they show all of there responses, uncut. It drags so much it seams that way. Then it is on to the second question. Rinse, repeat. It seriously needs some editing. I hope the edits on the Crimson Box aren't over edited though. We will see.

Crystal Lake Memories for me. Just a bunch of fun to watch even if it is really long. I love the franchise and the documentary did it justice.
