I wonder if Run Time is even an issue any more since Endgame. It used to be a limitation because it limited the number of showings per day, but with so many potential screens now, any demand can probably be met.

i think we are talking about 2 different beasts in this case. yes, run time doesn't factor as highly as it used to, but comparing Endgame run time (the last MCU film, of 22 that stood before, in the current tier that reaches a much wider audience than a horror movie based on a book) is like apples and oranges imo. for an R rated horror movie to run so long and get mediocre reviews, compared to Endgame's great reviews, i think is the bigger feat.

Actuals:
Something tells me that it won't have legs at the BO but will perform well during awards season.
Society in general, likes to be spoon feed rubbish without really having to think about the content being presented.
They're estimating a 56% drop for weekend #2, which is pretty solid for an R-rated flick with a huge opening, that's roughly the same decline as the first Deadpool movie (the 2nd fell 65%)
But it's also only Wednesday. Joker broke the October record for a Tuesday with $13.9m, the previous record was $8.2m.

I have to admit I’m surprised at how big a flop Rambo V was. The time clearly passed for that franchise.
Going to add to Joker’s total sometime this week.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
Yea this was probably the final chapter of Rambo. It was indeed a money loser. It needed to make at least $150M to be considered profitable. Maybe a little less because Lionsgate didn't give it a huge advertising push like other movies.
According to box office mojo, it's only at $64M

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
Rambo only did $42 million domestic (and $113 million worldwide) in 2008, so not sure why they expected it to make that kind of bank.
EDIT: I think it did perform strongly on DVD though, so maybe they thought those people would turn out.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
It won't be a money loser for Lionsgate since they only paid 10 million for distribution costs. Last Blood was completely financed by Millenium Films. As someone mentioned already -- there's still home video. Not only that, but they may release that extended cut with the footage not shown in theaters in some territories.

Joker has officially made $96 million.
https://deadline.com/2019/10/joker-b...nd-1202752002/
UPDATED with final weekend numbers: Warner Bros/Village Roadshow/Bron Studios’ Joker wrapped its record October opening weekend at $96 million, above where the studio saw the pic Sunday.
Warner Bros had predicted a $93.5M Friday-Saturday-Sunday total yesterday, while the town thought north of $95M was a possibility. The studio revealed the final number Monday morning.
The success was worldwide for Joker, which squashed Venom‘s global opening record, as overseas raked in $140.5M from 73 offshore territories.

Personally I think its legs won't be bad, however its all gravy for Warner given the budget. Just wild that this will be well over $300 million worldwide by the end of its second weekend.

Weekend 2 Joker adjusted estimate is now $58M plus, that is a completely insane hold for a movie like this. That puts it at a 39.5% drop and #1 second weekend in October.
Addams Family is at $31m, Gemini Man at $20m.
