It would be cool if Marcel the Shell could hit $1 MM.

So the last decade of direct-to-Redbox films have been Mickey Rourke challenging himself?

"I think he's irrelevant... in my world." They left the last part off the tweet.

It's at $945k and going pretty strong. Doing well for 48 theaters or so.

He also didn't even answer the question directly on whether he's a good actor. I don't know why this is even something people care at all about.

He answered with "he's irrelevant" which is a deflection. Like answering a question with a question. He doesn't want to burn any bridges in case he wants to be in one of Tom's movies. He's a chickenshit. He needs to pay for more work.

$7.15M for Top Gun in week 12. That’s just incredible. Most blockbusters completely fizzle out long before or are already on digital. By the way, I don’t think that rumored August 23 release date for digital is real. No one is reporting it. Just some random people on Twitter thinking it.

Since there was never a Cinema Day thread I just read it brought in a little over $24 million. Not bad for $3 tickets. Whether they'll do it again, we'll see.

I doubt anyone will see this, 1985 pricing for a movie ticket on Fandango courtesy of NBC/Quantum Leap reboot. Use code QUANTUMLEAPDAY on Fandango.com before 9/30/22 (or when the allotment runs out).

Bros. Bombed hard. Billy Eichner says straight people didn’t show up.

What did he expect? Straight men arenít exactly the target audience for romantic comedies, and I doubt that most straight women are interested in a romantic comedy that doesnít involve straight women.

I am sure their is a limit on what gay romantic comedy could do cause a sizeable percentage of straight people under no circumstances would ever see a movie with 2 dudes kissing. But this movie had a bad trailer and it's marketing campaign was self righteous and probably cost itself a lot of ticket buyers both gay and straight. Aside from that Romantic Comedy's are one genre that's almsot always star dependent, and Billy Eichner is a relative nobody to 95% of the public. Now someone well known like Jodie Foster,Jim Parsons,Queen Latifah,Elliot Page etc. with the right script could have a hit romantic comedy.

Was there market research done or is he just assuming? If a YA movie bombs, I don't think I've seen the director say "Not enough old people showed up."

While it might be true not enough straight people showed up, then the next question should be "why would this movie keep straights away?" I didn't see it but then rom-coms in the theater aren't my jam. Maybe if I was with someone.

Pardon the crappy cropping. I'll update it when the full results are out, but strong start for Black Adam.

Black Adam as of right now is a money loser. I heard it needs to make around $450M just to break even. It’s going to lose a lot of screens, eyes and interest this week because of Wakanda Forever.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread

$200m seems like way too much budget for a lesser known character. Seeing how WB is going, I wouldn't be surprised if it 1. Got a sequel or 2. Never heard from again.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever made $180 million. Best Nov debut and second highest of year after Doctor Strange 2.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread

Looking like Wakanda will lead, Strange World is bombing a la Treasure Planet and will likely be on D+ by years end.

Glass Onion:
industry sources tell us this AM that Netflixís sneak preview of release of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is killing off all adult competition, and itís only in 638 theaters. We hear Wednesday was very close to $2M, with the 3-day and 5 day projected out to $8.5M and $10M-$12.3M, which is amazing for adult counterprogramming right now. Weíll update you if Netflix reports numbers. If the Rian Johnson directed, Ram Bergman produced whodunnit sequel arrives at the high end, thatís a massive $19,2K theater average and proof adults still want to go to the movies.

I wouldn't be surprised if they extend and expand Glass Onion's run.
