Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
Spider-Man is now at $800,589,564.00 - DAMN!!! It hit the $800 Million mark!
I didn't see that coming. I was thinking $500 Million before it came out.

Morbius crashed and burned in its second weekend. I still want to watch when I can see it for free on cable/streaming or as a cheap rental, but ouch to the 74% drop.

Ambulance only cost $40M to make, so it’s not a huge bomb. It was entertaining in my opinion. But I guess most weren’t interested.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
It probably wouldn’t have been a big hit either way, but “Ambulance” is an utterly terrible name for a movie. Maybe if it were put out during the big disaster boom of the 70s it could’ve gone on a double feature with “Airport” I guess.

On the semi-bright side, it means Ambulance is likely to be on Peacock by the end of May, may hit VOD by April 25th.

Solid holds abound, especially for Lost City and Everything Everywhere. Audience scores for Dumblebore were fairly solid as well.

Weekend estimates:
Decent holds for the family and adult fare alike, theater going seems to be inching back outside of the major releases.

Everything is holding like nothing I've seen, at least not in recent memory.
Word of mouth is really carrying that one. It's nice to see!

That's pretty much a wrap for Northman. It's a bomb. I know the budget was 90 million but was downplayed to 70 million with tax rebates, but still, it won't even make half the 70 million stateside. I've yet to see it, though, but I doubt we'll get that Nosferatu remake from Eggers now.
Doctor Strange will bury everything else this weekend.

No real surprise on Northman. Nothing about that even remotely seemed appealing to a mass audience.

Disney is estimating $185m for Strange 2 due to uncertainty with Mother's Day, others think the actual will be $10m+ higher.

Hmmm... Everything Everywhere should soon be A24's third highest grosser. I wonder if it will pass Uncut Gems for the top. This is in regards to domestic only.

It should. I think the comparisons that people have been making between it and Multiverse of Madness may cause a slight pop next weekend.

you know i just saw The Bad Guys (surprised there is not a thread on it either or at least i couldn't find it) and am shocked this didn't do better. it was very good as animated movies go. it rivals other Dreamworks and some Disney movies. the voice acting was spot on. love Sam Rockwell and the rest of cast and the story was pretty good as well, if not predictable. i had a lot of fun with this one and really hoped it did better for possible sequel. oh well.

In other words, it's too early to write it off as a franchise.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
After it's first weekend in wide release I thought for sure that Everything Everywhere would top out at $20-$25 Million. And given the fact that it's an independent release, that would have been respectable.
But $47 Million and counting? It's going to hit $50 Million! That's crazy, but, then again, it's a crazy movie...
