Assassins (1995) vs Demolition Man (1993)

I would expect this to be a landslide for Demolition Man if for no other reason than Sandra Bullock was quite hot in her tight pants. Plus it had the three shells!

It's a good toss-up. Both had attractive females, both had villains who chewed the scenery through the whole movie, both had lots of action, but it comes down to what kind of Stallone movie you liked better, one that was obviously intended to be a drama, or one that had obvious comic factors. DM is more of the "guilty pleasure" in my book because of the campy factor. It was a comic book brought to life, chock full of ridiculousness. I'd say I like them both equally on their own merits, but I'd always choose to throw in DM first simply because I love Sandra Bullock.

I think Demolition Man is more fun, and Bullock was hot in this movie, and her ass in the tight pants was great. I actually like Assassins as a movie. Plus I get to see all the locations from the end of the movie here in San Juan. Screenplay by the Wachowskis I believe as well...but that's no longer a sign of quality I guess.

Demolition Man for me.

In terms of more fun, for me Demolition Man wins hands down. I like Assassins but the pacing of the movie drags at times.

I'm no great fan of Demolition Man, but Assassins was one of the most disappointing theater experiences I've ever had. My friends and I were so pumped to see that movie. Walking out of it you'd think that we were just coming back from a funeral. I haven't seen it since that night. Maybe I should give it a second look someday.

I saw Demolition Man in theaters. It was a big deal back then. I saw Assassins on DVD and that disc was once considered one of the Top-10 demo discs by Home Theater magazine when that came out. Guilty pleasure there.

I think a better comparison poll would have been Assassins vs. The Specialist.

DEMOLITION MAN was intentionally funny, while ASSASSINS was funny, but just barely, for other reasons.

I like both but as others have said, Assassins did take itself too serious.

I remember Sharon Stone in her prime from The Specialist, I never saw Assassins. Demolition man was fun, but kind of scary as that futuristic America has become the reality of today.

I re-watched the Specialist about a month ago. Funny but it came out around the same time as Assassins and both movies have a similar style i guess. The Specialist is sooooooooooooooooooooooo bad. Laughably bad. James Woods goes the full hog in his hammy acting here. Rod Steiger has one of the worst accents ever committed to film. I was never a fan of his acting and its rediculously bad here. Stone looks pretty good, but clump her acting in with Steigers in the shit zone. Amazingly Eric Roberts as the slimy son is half decent. Its such an awful movie in ever way. The scene on the bus where he beats up the guys and kicks one through a window just so he can give the lady a seat is hilarious. He really expects the bus to just trundle along after he has just bust one of their windows and left 3 or 4 folks bleeding or unconscious on the back?

Demolition Man, and it's not even close.
That would have been the more difficult choice, yes. I watched them both on Netflix within the past couple of months, and both are terrible. Julianne Moore is completely miscast in Assassins, but at least she can act.

Didn't Richard Donner direct Assassins? Probably one of the reasons he's rarely directing anything these days...the movie is awful.
Demolition Man, on the other hand has Sandra Bullock working for it.

I wouldn't say that about Donner. He directed Lethal Weapon 4 and that was huge. Timeline I've never seen and I did think 16 Blocks was underrated. He's just old. He's 85 years old and hasn't directed anything since 16 Blocks, which was 10 years ago. He's just living off of the interest his wife is making from their production company.

As awful as LW4 was that made a ton of money. Timeline and 16 Blocks were duds, so I'm guessing that may have had something to do with him finally retiring. Assassins was a dud, but I don't think that killed his career.
