Not a great ad, but I get what they're going for, given the backlash against the PG-13 rating of the 3rd movie. Truth be told, I enjoyed the last one, regardless of the rating.

Even though I actually liked most of the first three movies that’s one of the worst trailers I’ve ever seen.

I'll watch but the list of action heroes is less than inspiring... especially compared to the first three movies.

I dunno it was kinda goofy but I didn’t hate the trailer. Now if it lives up to the R rating is the thing. I think the movie looks okay based on the previous trailer and I liked the first two movies. I’ll probably see this.

They seem to be running low on potential Expendables. By number six they'll be on Frank Stallone, Cynthia Rothrock, a hologram of Jan Michael Vincent and the weasel-looking guy who stole from the cash register in Road House.

I've been wanting Cynthia Rothrock in one of these since the first one.

Looks like an Expendables movie to me.
I actually liked the third one. I liked all three of them. Nothing remotely great, but good, violent fun.

It looks incredibly cheap but it plays into the complaint about the third movie being PG-13. I'll still go see the new movie in theaters.

I liked the trailer and like that it’s very self aware of what people want from an Expendables movie.

Out this week.
I've seen some early reactions that aren't too positive.
I'll still be seeing it, but none of Scott Waugh's directorial efforts have impressed me. If it's anything like Hidden Strike... I'm expecting a bad CG affair.

I just watched a couple of early reactions on YouTube. Chris from Movies and Munchies said the action and violence are pretty good, but the story and CGI are awful. Christy and Alonso from Breakfast All Day said the special effects are embarrassingly bad.
Can't wait for tomorrow.

I saw a commercial on Starz for something Jason Statham is in, but it zipped by so quick I couldn't tell what it was about or what the title was until I looked it up on IMDB and found OPERATION FORTUNE: RUSE DE GUERRE. It was directed by Guy Ritchie and if it got any kind of release outside of Starz, I haven't heard of it. The description on IMDB doesn't sound promising at all and the actor cast as "Hollywood's biggest movie star" is Josh Hartnett, so we already have a plausibility problem.

I have never seen any of these films, but my one friend who is never interested in anything outside of Top Gun or Ghostbusters wants to see it for some reason, so I will be dragged along at some point

Re: Expend4bles (The Expendables 4) (2023, D: S. Waugh)
Just got back, so I'll post what I thought tonight:
The movie is fine. It's entertaining and the story is not any worse than the first three films, so fans of the franchise should be okay with that aspect.
What's glaringly annoying about the movie is that there is a whole lot of obvious green screen and/or rear projection. It's blatantly clear that the actors are working on soundstages/sets and not out in the physical world for a good 90% of the movie.
Finally - as suspected - this is basically a Jason Statham vehicle. Stallone is probably in 30 minutes of the film...but that's probably double what I expected him to be in, so I was kind of pleasantly surprised we got that much of him.
While by no means a great movie (even by this franchise's standards), it was enjoyable enough. I give it a C+

Yeah I just got back. It’s okay and on par with the series. Statham absolutely carries it. The violence and action are definitely better than 3. But yeah I think they had less money than 2 and 3, so a lot of green screen was used and this basically the Expendables D squad. The Antonio Banderas Jr. character was so dumb. Terrible impersonation. So there really is no nostalgia aspect to these heroes. Stallone is probably in about 25 to 30% of the movie. But, the main “villain” is probably the weakest of the series.
And it had a clean ending if this is indeed the end of this series. I would give it a C+. I’m not surprised critics think it’s terrible.
