Without Wright and Cornish, can Reed replicate the stylistic decisions from the first movie? I guess we can expect a notably different style/look to this film now that it'll be 100% Reed. Well may Rudd will have input still.

Deadline reports that Ant-Man is about to cross 500m worldwide thanks to a surprisingly strong run in China. It is a safe bet that Peyton Reed will be asked to direct the sequel, as I have to assume that Disney is a fan of director's who can create a film based on a 2nd or 3rd tier character that grosses half a billion (it sounds even more impressive than typing out 500m) worldwide.

Michael Douglas was a big part of the appeal of Marvel's "Ant-Man" and its success this past Summer, but unlike so many of his co-stars - he was only signed for the one film.
Now, the actor has revealed to Collider that he's currently in negotiations to return for 2018's "Ant-Man & The Wasp" to reprise the role of 'Hank Pym' However he has one condition - he wants less exposition:
"I just got a call recently – they want to negotiate for a sequel and I thought 'That's great!' Hopefully, I won't have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one but I had a wonderful time doing it. Just a great, great time.
The cast was fantastic. Paul, Evangeline, Michael Pena – I'm sure he'll be back. If they can scrape Corey Stoll off the wall, I'm sure they'll want him too – he's such a good villain. And Peyton too. It was a lovely experience, so you know, I welcome it. I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018... It's hard to conceive of that, but it's all good, all the way around, it's all good."
"Ant-Man and the Wasp" is currently targeting a July 6th 2018 release.

Yeah, he did have a lot of explaining to do.
Hopefully they can avoid that, and the horribly shoehorned in SHIELD stuff.

I don't mind them talking about old SHIELD and all that. Especially if it shows us that AMAZING looking young Hank again. Jesus. Those guys did amazing work him.
But yes. At this point... I don't think we need it. It would be nice to see Janet and a younger Hank interact. Somebody mentioned it before but if they got Matt Damon to play in his prime Hank w/ Janet? That'd be awesome.

The intro stuff was solid, I didn't like them suddenly having to steal from SHIELD and that whole sequence (which in and of itself was amusing), it just seemed really forced and out of place. Almost like namedropping.

If you take it out and the need for that item, which was really a very small narrative element. It doesn't affect the scene. I like the scene as a self contained thing... but it isn't needed.

Looks like Hawkeye will be in this. Renner is too busy with Marvel films to be in M:I6.

In the first major casting in the upcoming sequel to “Ant-Man,” Marvel has tapped Hannah John-Kamen for a new role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”
Paul Rudd is returning in the title role with Evangeline Lilly coming back as Hope van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp. Michael Douglas and Michael Pena are also expected to reprise their roles from the original.
Marvel had no comment on the casting.
Peyton Reed, who helmed the first pic, is back in the director’s chair with Rudd and Gabriel Ferrari penning the script. Kevin Feige is producing.
The plot is being kept under wraps, as are details about who John-Kamen will be playing. Marvel had been meeting with actresses over the past month before finally being won over by the rising star.
The original film grossed $519 million worldwide including $180 million domestically. Rudd most recently reprised the role in “Captain America: Civil War.”
The sequel bows on July 6, 2018.
John-Kamen comes from the TV world, having appeared in such popular shows as “Black Mirror,” “Game of Thrones,” and, most recently, the Hulu series “Killjoys.” She also caught the eye of Steven Spielberg, who cast her in a lead role in “Ready Player One.”
She is repped by Paradigm and Scott Marshall Partners.
She kinda looks like Evangeline Lilly, so maybe she's playing a young Hope.

Also, re: the article, Killjoys is a Space/Syfy show, not a Hulu series. With all the film roles Hannah John-Kamen is getting (she's also going to be in the new Tomb Raider movie), I wonder what that means for the show's future--if it has one beyond the upcoming season.

re: Ant-Man and The Wasp (7/6/18) - News, rumors, etc.
EXCLUSIVE: Walton Goggins has sealed a deal to join Disney/Marvel’s Ant-Man And The Wasp, the sequel to the superhero pic that stars Paul Rudd. Casting outside returning star Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, as well as the plot, has been mostly kept under typical Marvel-esque wraps, but Goggins has inked and the production is now set to get underway at month’s end in Atlanta.
Evangeline Lily as the Wasp, Michael Douglas, Michael Peņa, T.I. and most recently Randall Park are also confirmed to star. No info on Goggins’ character, but we’ll likely get more info this week during Marvel’s Hall H presentation at Comic-Con. The pic already has a July 6, 2018 release date. Peyton Reed returns to direct the follow-up to 2015’s Ant-Man, which grossed $519.3 million worldwide.
It’s the latest big movie for Goggins, who will be on the big screen plenty in 2018. He stars opposite Alicia Vikander in the Tomb Raider reboot which bows March 16, and he just wrapped Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the third installment of the YA pic series, that bows February 9. He also recently shot Jon Avent’s The Three Christs Of Ypsilanti, was in Season 1 of History’s Six, and his HBO series with Danny McBride Vice Principals returns for Season 2 on September 17.
