Struggling single father Dennis Nash (Andrew Garfield) is evicted from his Orlando home by corrupt real estate broker Rick Carver (Michael Shannon). With nowhere else to turn, Nash is forced to work for Carver in hopes of reclaiming his house. It's not long before he gets swept up in Carver's glamorous lifestyle. But it comes at a price -- Nash must perform the same eviction practices that were used on him. As Nash falls deeper into Carver's world, his situation grows dire and hard to escape.
I saw this trailer the other day. I thought it looked really good. Not a subject you'd think to see a film be made about. Looking forward to it.

Here's the perfect companion piece to The Big Short. While Wall St is exploding in TBS 99 Homes plays on that "man on the street" angle. Garfield and Shannon are terrific with some good supporting work from Laura Dern and Clancy Brown.

Only one reply?
This is on Amazon Prime.
From the advertising and synopsis (it's labeled a "thriller"), I thought it was going to be more like "Changing Lanes", with two sides sabotaging each other. It's nothing like that.
It's well-paced and doesn't bore. Michael Shannon's character was very real and not overtly villainous. The details are all very real (the extended-stay motel, cash-for-keys scam, the a/c and appliance scam).

Yeah, I liked where it was going until it drove off a cliff.

I agree, I really liked it up to the third act. Michael Shannon is the fucking man, he makes guys like Leo DiCaprio look like amateurs when it comes to acting.

Caught this on Amazon Prime and the ending blew. Spiderman was a total fucking idiot for most of the movie and the connection to the boys friend/father as the "saving grace" was as predictable as the sun rising from the East.

I also liked how Laura Dern basically kidnapped his son and he did nothing about it.
Fucking Spider-Fuck.
Great movie, AWFUL ending. Making it simply a good movie, I guess.
