I think I only seen the original once and wasn't too into it, ill have to revisit it. So the author wrote sequels ?

Yeah, PL Travers wrote I think 7 or 8 books. I'm not sure if the first Disney movie is based on the first book or parts of several.

Michael Rooker has completely stole the spotlight for this movie.

You know how many people are going to be disappointed if he doesn't have some sort of cameo in this film...

I had the exact opposite reaction. The teaser showed me that this movie is being made with great respect and affection for the original, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Never saw the original. Does the main character have supernatural powers or something?

In a sense, Mary Poppins IS supernatural. She appears from the sky when there are children/families who need her, and disappears when she is no longer needed.

I did see the teaser tonite and it is absolutely awful.
In no way does it make me want to see this film.

Not after Carrie Fisher in TLJ and all the complaining/backlash.

Mary Poppins was one of the first memories I have of seeing a movie at the theater. Saw it back at (then named) Grauman's Chinese Theater. It's ok one of my favorite movies. I'm still willing to give this a chance. I didn't see any thing awful in the teaser. Didn't really see much at all.

Re: Mary Poppins Returns (12/25/18, D: Rob Marshall) S: Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Mira

I just got around to finally finishing off (I had only watched about 1/4th to 1/3rd of the film a few weeks back) the recording I made of the Freeform airing of Mary Poppins from last December and it is probably only my second time really watching the film all the way through and wow...it is such a wonderful film and I do like the ending (for some reason I thought it was more of a downer).

Also, holy carp...just googled and while I was aware Mary Poppins was nominated for awards I had no idea it was such an awards beast...is IMDB correct that there were 20 Oscar noms and 17(!) wins? All these years and I had no idea. The original really is a super beloved family film.

I think this film has the potential to be special and I am down for giving it a shot in theaters.

Naw, that's total nominations (Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTA, etc; ) , not just Oscar nominations.

It was nominated for 13 oscars and won 5 of them.

That makes more sense, still an award magnet but I felt my numbers did not comport with reality.
